Kalonzo should know that the nomination and election game are two very different animals.
The people "polled" by steadman werent only LDP memebers but a motely crew of kenyans. Why not poll LDP memebers first and see if they are trully enthralled with Kalonzo? Can Kalonzo play the delegate game? let him ask high handicap golfer Kituyi first before yapping. So before Kalonzo claims kenyans want him, he should ask himself and analyse which ones exactly are these kenyans? are they eligble LDP delgates? He should remember that this is the first hurdle he should overcome before presenting himself to the general electorate. And whoever does the next poll, this time please list all poetential candidates including the collosus stradling the political landscape! |

He's just masturbating, getting high over that politically endorsed poll. "Kenyans want me" WTF? The nerve he has to threaten Mr Raila, what an egotistic *****hole, try some respect for Kenya young man. Pride comes before a fall. As my sweety Native Son says: Watch this space ;)

i have a feeling that this anti-kalonzo wave is nothing but an undying support for Raila. Raila's handlers should be very careful too. if LDP holds a nomination that, for any reason, sidelines kalonzo, Raila is stuffed. in my opinion Kalonzo or Mudavadi are the best options for LDP. Odinga's strength of character is unlikely to go down well with the electorate

In fact i have strong reasons to believe that DP is wishing and hoping that Raila is picked as Ldp's candidate. Firstly if Raila is picked, there is no guarantee that Kalonzo or Mudavadi can rally their communities around his candidature. You see, unlike Raila, Kalonzo and Mudavadi dont have a proven hold over their tibesmen in general elections. Some may argue that the referendum was a clear pointer of 2007 but i think it is naive not to consider all other factors that swayed voters. It was claimed that Kambas actually voted against the draft because they were made to believe it would block Kalonzo's chances of ascending to the presidency. who knows how the Akamba would handle a situation where Kalonzo is not a presidential candidate in 2007? i think Ngilu would be the beneficiary of such a scenario.
Secondly Kenya's politics has proven time and time again that abrasive politicians will never ascend the top seat. I would bet Raila's allies would be uneasy with him as president. His record does not suggest a man who would willingly share power and accomodate dissent. In 2002 Kibaki was an acceptable candidate because he seemed meek and has a record of being a moderate. Nyachae together with his volatile temperament were quickly sidelined in the 2002 race by LDP. From this angle, Mudavadi is probably the best candidate. He has throughout his political career been moderate and uncontreversial. It's funny the way people underestimate Kalonzo. I think he is a strong character but very sly. He fronts this moderate persona but if he ever became president Kenyans will surely dance to his tune just like Moi. Finally i think members of the Kikuyu and the luo communities are the most hated and distrusted people in Kenya. Kikuyu's are percieved to be exploiters/thiefs/murderers while the Luo are thought to be Violent/recalcitrant and generally boorish. Let me clarify the fact that i dont believe in these stereotypes but i have evidence that strongly supports such perceptions. Last year Philip Ochieng wrote an article indicating that some Kenyans believe that if a Luo was to be president, ordinary luos would go on a rampage. Kikuyus on the other hand are no longer trustworthy in the eyes of most Kenyans thanks to the tribalism and corruption under Kenyatta then Kibaki. To cut the story short a kikuyu or luo candidate in 2007 will severely polarise the 2007 elections. Whatever happens in the next 23 months will be interesting for anyone who loves politics as much as i do. i only hope mashadites will learn to analyse politics without insults and trash. |

If people like you think Kalonzo based on his political prowess, charisma to woo the crowd to date, is worthy enough to be a presidential contender.. God help Kenya.

Abrasive Raila? Don't you mean Kibaki? The man's extending an olive branch, whilst Kibaki fired them, now THAT's abrasive.

@Dubois1,
I agree with your post. http://www.blackagenda.com/images/cyber/malcolm-01.jpg "It doesn't mean that I advocate violence, but at the same time, I am not against using violence in self-defense. I don't call it violence when it's self-defense, I call it intelligence." |

kalonzo has a greater chance to win the presidential election mainly because kikuyus will vote him as a block if raila pursues. kikuyus have consistently said no to raila.
