Default KillaQueens: The Word On The Streets - 01-10-2007, 04:09 PM

Wasee, check out my artists.

KILLAQUEENZ-The Word on the Street mixtape
Take two strong beautiful proud black women, give them voices filled with passion and set them loose on a crazy hip hop beat and what you get is one of Australia’s first female rap duos Kween G and the Belizean Bombshell who go by the name of KillaQueenz . With a fresh global sound, the pair touch on a range of subjects, from personal to political and social issues.

2005/06 has been massive for the KillaQueenz, supporting international acts including The Alkaholiks, Lucky Dube, and the Peter Tosh meets Marley Tour as well performing at local gigs and festivals - hyping the crowds at the hottest Sydney clubs giving them the well deserved reputation as the ultimate crowd rockers . From beat boxing to freestyling to slamming Afro-Caribbean dance beats, KillaQueenz are creating a sound that is unique within the Australian hip hop scene.

Pioneers in the Australian Hip Hop community, KillaQueenz are the first female rap group to come out with a mixtape in Australia, a fact the Queenz are proud of; “We’ve had 100% control over the project and have been involved in all aspects of production”. KQ also made a special appearance on DJ Carl Alley’s soul Control Compilation cd and there song “ Takin Ova feat Anita”, has been added to play lists on radio stations around Australia including Perth’s Groove 101.7 Fm’s top 10 list.

The official release of their mixtape Word on the Street kicked off on December 15 and is the first step of the KillaQueenz journey that is set to be long and influential. The Word on the Street has been created to showcase the KillaQueenz ability to cross genres with the aim to appeal to those who love the mainstream but keeping the street in check.

This mixtape promotes and celebrates Sydney and Melbourne talent with a host of local guest MC’s and Singers. A collaboration of international and local Producers and Dj’s gives the Word
on the Street a global sound.
