After listening to the ‘Kilio Cha Haki’ compilation CD by the Mau Mau Camp, my friends and I have come to the conclusion that it is the best album to come from Kenya. Which begs the question: Why are these cats so underrated? I mean, Atammau, one of the ladies on the track ‘Msanii’ is, in my opinion, the best female MC to ever touch the mic.

Yet when I read Pulse, all I see is gossip about half-talented artistes who took up and corrupted what K-Shaka, the pioneers, came up with. I would like to see more of Ukoo Flani, the whole Mau Mau camp and all the Dandora artistes wakilishwad because theirs is the true hip-hop.
