Well radio is what is supposed to give someone some glimpse of what is out there but when all that radio gives us is some piece of crap, our minds close up any open-mindedness and the good stuff remains uncovered. As a radio listener, tehre's nothing much that you can do as an individual (or even as a big number of listeners, the media people are such big goons).
