My my ..i think i must have hit something here.
I am amused at that whole 'i must have been a loser' thing and that that's what led me to rock. I was hardly opressed. I wasn't a loser. High school is hard for everyone and it's only when you look back that you see that it wasn't as bad as it felt. Anyway that's not the point.

I'm not going to get into a back and forth with you guys on this. You listen to what you like. Just to clarify..when i say rock i realise we might be thinking different things here..i don't listen to thrash......say it with me kids..T ..H.R.AA SSHHH.. that's the crazy headbanging stuff.
At the end of the day rythm and a chorus is important to me. By the way don't take that explanation as me backing down rock....i'm not trying to hide here.. I listen to rock and will not back down from it so that people can approve of my 'Africanness'.
It was Wole Soyinka ...another 'Total African' who said my favorite quote..and i paraphrase' Nigritude is as irrelevant as tigritude" ....A tiger doesn't know why it's a tiger...it just is....and it doesn't dwell on it......why? coz that's irrelevent.....Me i don't spend time dwelling on my 'blackness' i don't wonder if i havent got the latest rap cd...i simply LIVE MY LIFE...whatever happens to be the soundtrack of my life at that moment be it rock rap salsa taarab(which i love by the way)cafe music, classical, etc..then I WILL LISTEN TO IT..it's spontaneous like that for me.....so if you guys want to label me a traitor or some ridiculous sh1t like that then hey...if it helps you sleep at night man!!

And who said rock does not have that? As a matter of fact rock is more realistic that hiphop is. All you hear on hiphop is just alot of blinging and show-off kind of affairs. When Linkin Park churn out Numb, I feel like the song was written specifically for me, someone else feels the same thing. Can you say the same thing about hiphop nowadays? Well you coulda said that some years back in the 90's but not in this decade.
