Default Da Vinci Code - 05-23-2006, 10:30 PM

This movie is causing heat in Kenya. The church is campaigning for a ban of both the book and movie. It is fiction for Christ's sake!

Anyone who is so dumb to the point that they actually belive that watching or reading a book that is fiction will seriously alter their religious beliefs might as well end their pathetic life ASAP! These cowards and chalatans are now shouting at the pulpit but behind closed doors they have girlfriends and engage in sodomizing young boy! Disgusting!!!

Religion may not be important to you but it is to many people and for various reasons.I don't think it's fair to characterize people who find Da Vinci offensive as stupid.A little misguided and dramatic maybe but not stupid. Everyone has something that they hold close to their chest and most people react violently when that thing that keeps them stable is threatened or challenged in any way, it's not the merit of the challenge that matters, it's the fact that their foundation is about to be questioned here. I am not religiious but i have solid philosophical and intellectual beliefs that i believe in so strongly that i probably would go crazy too if someone was casual or tried to be cute with them.

Priests who molest children are in the minority. Besides, adultery and child molestation are syptomatic of ALL kinds of people not just priests. The fact is that many priests are well meaning and actually very helpful to the poor and voiceless who may not have as sophisticated point of view as yours about things. Some people spend their whole lives just fending for the day. I'm just grateful that i have a chance to fair better.

All in all the impression i have of Da Vinci(haven't and not going to watch it) is that it's silly and a little wild. Remember those books by Emanuel Eni? Those books about devil worship? Man i used to be so terrified of them coz i totally believed them. Of course now i realise it was all silly pulp. That's kind of how i look at Da Vinci code.

Christians should be sensible. I hope those agitating for a ban will be fired.

Thierry, thierry... How can you offer any opinion on what you have absolutly no idea about? Tell me how this is possible. The fact that you fear? reading the book due to hearsay? illustrates your preconcieved ideas based on religion? and your environment and what you hear from the bully pulpit?

So that completly nullifies what you were talking about in the first paragragh. What you should say is simply that I find this book/movie to run contrary to my belifs and i would not watch it as a PERSONAL issue. Demonstrationg and jumping up and down on behalf of everyone else is highly hypocritical.

On the matter of sodomy amongst the clergy; it is well documented that the church borrowed a leaf from Moi's playbook and simply switched the offenders to different parishes instead of addressing the larger issue of celebacy and it's practicality in the priesthood. But this is my PERSONAL opinion.

I take great offence in your condescending statements of religion not being important to me. How would you know? Religion is a matter of PERSONAL choice. It is my PERSONAL relationship with my GOD. If you have scripture that says otherwise please refer me to it.
