Due to the interset I hav seen I got a nw Idea. Sice we will keep on talking and not much will happen. Why not do something.
Lets produce our own movie. I am dead serious.
Lets write one. We can all participate and eventually come up with a workable script.
After that we come up with a financial proposal that we can send to various institutiuons.
Next we enter pre-production, production, post production, marketing and distribution.
I elect myself convener of this project.We can call the it the " Do It Yourself Project"( DIY).
The first stage I feel is to choose all those who will be involved. From The last thread on Mashada It wont be hard to know who really is serious.
After seletions we get each others personal emails where we shall then communicate.We only write on Mashada the updates and requests for help.

Democracy wins the day. We will vote on all matters e.g the story. that gets the most votes wins and we move on like that to every stage.
As the film professional my vote counts as two votes just coz of experince not DOMINATION, so as to keep things moving.

Start thinking on which story you want to present.
Trust will have to work for now.I promise if it gets to a stage where we may produce it, contract forms will be sent with all the necccessary remuneration details and blah..
C'mon guys do you want to talk or do you want to walk?

IM IN!!!....oh...and as the DIRECTOR by the way..yes i have snagged it before anyone else.....

Seriously we should have 'auditions' for the technical spots and we can find a ka judge to see who's best then we move on to casting..heck we can even do it ourselves.....this is the story of so many filmakers who went on to make it big...think 'blair witch project' and 'sex lies and videotape'...ultra cheap movies which revolutionalised the indie world.

I am very serious by the way.

I think this is a neat idea guys! There's soo much talent on mashada, just waiting to be tapped and chanelled into a concrete cause. I think workshoping the movie will be a brillian idea.( The other day I watched a workshopped musical, and when after the show I asked abt the script-writer, it took me a few forever's to swallow that it was a workshoped script... so, yes! I'm in!!

Well I guess Its all systems go. I feel that apart from convener which is a non poduction post. All posts should be applied for and the person with most experince or tremendous interest is voted in by the group. If indeed democracy is applied everyone will be happy since its a group effort. Keep in mind we want to make a professional film whatever the story so experince is a plus isnt it?
If the budget allows the positions we cant fill ourselves we shall outsource from the industry at large.

Whats important now is the story.We should all come up with one or two max,synopsises(is that english)one to two pages long by 4th June.
You can submit it any time in between.Should we post on mashada or email???

Not everyone has to write a story other they can settle on other positions in the process such as the work shop team that will polish the story and come up with a script.Especially those not technically inclined in the film process
Those who show interest in the process in a weeks time will be the main group. This will keep out johnny come latelys.

It would be great if can be shoot in Kenya but thats for the group to vote on.
Also research on funding agencies,(sundance, ford foundation, those black filmakers movements in the states, private investors, rich Fathers?????? etc.
I cant claim to be the source of all knowledge so any input from y'all is appreciated.
I happen to feel an urban story will be best instead of maasai elephant stories.Avoid typical KENYAN stories. A story of a child kidnapped in Nairobi is still an urban story.Doesnt have too much partying and drinking but has suspence,anguish, action.... you get the drift...

Gosh I have written. Mimie indeed we do need your help.So far we are 4 people which is just great.
