It's kind of sad that this movie will not be made..at least for now anyway. It's sad coz the enthusiasm and talent(i hope)is clearly there. I wish these were real people in a real film class and that we could actually do this. Logistics is the only impediment coz we can't link up. Anyway it has inspired me to keep trying.

Speaking of African auteurs...Sembene Ousmane who we all know better as a novelist ..made a splash at this years Cannes film festival. Now if you are an obsessive cinephile like me you know that Cannes is the 'ume arrive' festival for aspiring and even established film makers. I mean if your movie is just even screened there even though it might not be in competition it's just HUGE.
So he made this movie about rebel African girls who fight against FGM in their village and how they rise against the paternalistic society.I especially found it intriguing coz it reminded me of Mekatilili and Wangu wa Makeri..stories that are just movies waiting to be made. Anyway..i hear this movie is so good it would have won the Palme d'or (top prize) if it wasn't for Michael Moores 'Fahrehnheit 911'....the anti Bush grenade of a documentary scheduled to explode in theatres this summer.... Apparently the French are still pissed at Dubya so awarding this movie top prize was the best way to #### slap him.

But i was so happy to see people excited about an AFRICAN DIRECTOR..yes things are happening finally

I don't know...life in America i guess. I mean, all of us have to at least physically even meet or something and working out peoples schedules and stuff ....knowing the way life is here...seems out of reach for now.
I don't know it could still happen but i doubt it...not coz i doubt the enthusiasm but the actual meeting and planning and stuff....on the ground stuff is going to be tricky.

Well i am suprised over the days Mashada's greatest optimists at least in my opinion have been wading in their positivity namely Mimie and Thierry.

Consider this, what if we finished the script and it has six scenes, we would share them out and shoot them from our diverse locations./

My idea is if Scene one goes to Thierry she would be charged with sourcing characters in the premier original iniative that would make us a serious entry into the market.

Then scene two would go to Mimie, pix 9 scene three inter alia... then we would collect the tapes that i offere to edit and try to introduce the continuity, however the handicap in my idea which needs your contributions is just how does the story flow with six set of characters and settings?

Ama do we record the principal characters doing their bit then in the mixing potray them as friend who went different ways and there was no way to come together and their different fate despite the Internet communication..
