it is the month for it.
just finished reading, 'Underground Railroad', then watched a documentary of it from the History Channel.
what an eye opener. if you've ever thought you know the history of alvery or if you want to learn, this is one of those pieces that will be educational. it traces slavery from the 15century when the Spanish settlers brought them from Africa to America. It showcases the underground movement of freedom aided by Whites, Indians (Americans), and later on with the Spanish.
You will see how the slaves with no education whatsoever, managed to map some kind of escape route to freedom. how someone can declare to die trying to escape than be slaved. you get to learn about Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman etc.
loved it. the balance the documentary managed to bring out was well done.
