Hello y'all African rugger fans.
This is proving to be quite a year in African rugby especially for Ugandan and Kenyan rugby fans. First Uganda thrashes Kenya in Nairobi, then back home at Kyadondo, albeit a not so full strength Kenya team at that time and now they have a chance of meeting in the semis of the CAR Africa Cup. This weekend we'll see if that becomes a reality. If it does, I think it will take our rugby rivalry to a new level, since Kenya is itching to revenge last year's home loss to the rugby cranes. It looks more real than ever with us having "weaker opponents" in Zambia and Cameroon. I wont take it for granted that it will happen. Do you think Kenya can actually beat the getting mightier Rugby Cranes... |

The semi-finals can be discussed better after this weekend's games which may not too straight forward as one would believe. Playing away is no longer as straight forward.
Well there is the return leg of the Elgon Cup to be played in Kenya. UG won the 1st leg 29 - 10 without their star players Allan Musoke and Mattias Ochowo. Kenya had players in the 7s circuit. Kenya pack was the stonger one but the line was disastous as UG scored all their tries via the line. I recall exactly one year ago, when some members were saying the Kenya rugby is miles ahead of UG rugby. This was just before the return leg of Elgon Cup. I disagreed and put them at par. Well now I guess we are all in agreement that a winner in a UG - Kenya cannot be guaranteed until the 80 mins are over. |

It looks like we shall be playing Madagascar and not Uganda. The winner of North group A which is us plays the winner of South group B which is Madagascar http://carugby.com/competitions/2007competitions/
Madagascar are super tricky, they are going to give us hell if we dont prepare for them adequately.

Yes Joginda, I see your correction.
From the CAR website, that's what's indicated. However, Kenya RFU has something different. It's reporting that Uganda is playing Kenya and Cote d'Ivoire is against Madagascar. NTV reported the same. Though the New Vision from Uganda concurs with what's in the CAR website. All the same it will be a very exciting semi-final line-up, though Uganda v Kenya looks more exciting to me. I was telling a friend of mine yesterday about the Malagasy threat. Those guys will run at you no matter where you play them. |

Errisson, I am sure very few will take your statement seriously. Can you say that since Fiji's 7s team can beat All Blacks anytime, then it's 15s team can do the same team. You know that the 15s fiji team cannot come even near the All Blacks. Back to our scene, you may have to look at the Ug - Kenya games in the last 5 years to get the actual picture. You seem to be living in the times of the 90s. UG was way behing Kenya then, but has rapidly grown and caught up. Infact they have beaten Kenya in the last 2 games, home and away. Did you watch any of the matches?

Joginda's right. I think both teams have greatly improved over the years. I remember the last time Uganda made it to the semis, Namibia had beaten Kenya in Nairobi and now I wdnt bet a cent for them to repeat that feat at Ngong road. However, I think Kenya's big brother image has fast faded. It was only last year when Uganda beat Kenya in Nairobi after a draw in Kampala. One thing I love about this fixture is no matter whether it's played in Kampala or Nairobi, both teams will play it like a home fixture.
