Default Conman on the Loose: Charles “Jaguar” Kanyi    Show Printable Version  Print   Email this Page  Email

Beware of these conmen: Robert Mwangi (Piracy Marshall) and Charles “Jaguar” Kanyi (Kenyan Musician), and Tawrel group

They go around extorting business people in Kenya in the name of fighting piracy.

They send spies or informers to plant copied Kenyan music CDs at Bars, clubs (near the DJ booth) and leave saved music tracks in cyber café computers. Then notify some corrupt police inspector who is working with them.

The corrupt police then radios a team of other police crooks to arrest the business owner.

Once they get to the police station, they don’t book you to arrest you, instead they take you to an office and harass you and instill fear of a jail sentence so you can cough large sums of money to get out. At the station “Jaguar” will appear and claim to be suffering because you stole his music.

They then split the money amongst them. This operation is carried out in the evenings to avoid suspicion at the police station.

If what you say is true, there is a lot of piracy out there in Kenya, heck, worldwide and if you get caught you pay. Can you honestly tell me all you cds are original?

Default Poxi died of TB which he got in jail

Yes unfortunately Poxi died from TB which he got after being jailed for the same extortion crimes.

Poxi went to Malindi and tried to extort a business there by falsely accusing them of piracy and the Malindi business reported him to authorities, he was tried and jailed.

I dont think you got the story right. The key thing is was the evidence genuine?
Seems to me like we have fake piracy police using it to make money.

i did get the story. what i said is as much as that is true, nobody in kenya who owns cds (forgive me for generalizing), can truly say they own 100% original cds.
