Default KILL ME AM KENYAN , the true msema ukweli kabisa - 01-28-2008, 12:31 PM

So today i looked at the news again and of course more kenyans dying. And i sadly realized i would have been one of them. I would have been a dead kenyan irrespective of tribe. All i had to be is in the wrong place.

And today monday the 28th i am no longer is passive. I am not going to hide behind my mashada handle msema ukweli kabisa

My name is kamau the son of muigai. I was born and raised in the town of kitale. Understood bukusu way before swahili or kyuk (mboch was luhya).i am engaged to be married to a beautiful luhya girl by the name melanie who i am marrying soon.
For a long time i have enjoyed my anonymity in mashada as we throw tribal bull back and forth. But today i come out,

Some of you will see my name and give me an angle. But I refuse. I refuse to be labled, hate me, burn my house and even kill me, but because I am kenyan.

kill me because i am kenyan, not because of my tribe

Not because of my name, please kill me because i am kenyan.
My story,

I grew up in an estate called section six, most of my friends up to now i can’t remember their tribes, just names but there were somalis, luyhas, jengs, kyuks, kales etc. All we cared about is that we loved and lived.

Went to school at molo academy, my best friend was dominic a kalenjin from olenguruoni, but in 1992 he has to move schools because of the 92 clashes. I remember the terror of 92 clashes, the terror as we saw homes burning around us, we were scared kenyans children, huddling together irrespective of tribe praying for safety and mourning when our friends and family were killed.

We young people are being hoodwinked by our parents, relatives, politicians, elders and even pastors and being taught a hate that we have never known we are being forced to take side.

But today i refuse and i refuse. I refuse for tribalist, murderers, thieves, criminal, the short sighted and even the cowards to shape the destiny of kenya.

I chose to be proactive. We have to be proactive. I and one of my best friend are starting this movement called kill me am kenyan. He is kenyan luo engaged to a kenyan kikuyu girl, but first and most he is the key word is kenyan. (I will write more later why i chose that slogan)

I am angry, really angry. Angry at myself for thinking being passive has ever changed anything.angry that this politicians, this gangs be it mungiki, taliban, kalenjin warriors and et al who want to tell us how to live, who to love. Who want to tell us who to hate or kill.

I refuse yes I refuse.

Don’t blame kibaki, don’t blame raila, don’t blame anybody blame yourself for all those deaths. Yes blame yourself for being passive, for taking sides. Even for spreading all that hate on the internet behind the secrecy of your homes as you use the keyboard as a deadly weapon and mashada and other social sites as your vehicle

On the 8th I am headed to san diego to watch My Kenyan team.

I will have a kenyan flag round my neck and a t-shirt saying kill me am kenyan. I pray that us young people may come together, stronger than never before and show kenya and the world that we refuse for them to map our destiny

I beg all of you who are kenyans and in your heart that is your identity to choose yes to choose, if you will ever be killed, let them kill you because of being kenyan, if you will ever be hated let it bacause you are a kenyan. If you will ever be displaced, do that too because you are a kenyan to pleae join me.

It may look really small and idealistic. But that is the home we have now and we have to change. We have to fight for it or die trying.

That is the believe we have to have till our death. Not just for us but for the future generations that will one day look at the black, white, green, white and red flag and thank God that they were born Kenyan

God help us all, God help kenya.

Spread the word,

Kamau
