Default kenyan newspapers are small - 12-10-2007, 09:52 PM

One thing i always find challenging my memory when i go for my vacation back home is the size of the local newspapers. Before going abroad they looked normal, the ones abroad looked extravagant, now i just can't get enough news on the local ones.

Strange things indeed.

Default standard is best - 12-10-2007, 11:45 PM

For me personally i get much satisfaction reading the east african standard than the daily nation.standard has more news, interesting features worth the money spent on it.

The broadsheet is always a challenge to hold. Why do they make them so huge, so drab? You need 40foot long arms to read the Suddeutscher Zeitung

Does anyone hate they way our online newspapers (both Standard and Nation) lack pictures? Have you ever noticed too that they put pictures without any story to it? Basically you just see a guy shaking another guy's hand and a caption stating their names but no accompanying story whatsoever!

Default Nation/Standard online??? No, offline!!! - 12-13-2007, 12:25 AM

Unfortunately, rather than exploit the potential of the Internet medium, media houses have just chosen to duplicate the physical papers printed for the street. For example, they update their websites once every 24 hours unless there's some major crisis eg the bomb at Ambassadeur a few months back. That's crap! They should truly be online like CNN.com. The small rolling screen with snippets of the latest occurrences is not enough; I want full articles. When Lucy Wambui slaps someone, I want to log in 2 mins later and read about it.
