I learnt to speak pidgin and I guess after while, you slowly become naijo!
See my attempt of a Naijo (Pidgin) translation of a paragraph here: Can you talk sexy to your mammi/chali in your mother tongue?

@ sdolpin, lol! so true. Keyaaa no sabii pidgin! What always amazes me is how the Naijos sound as if they are fighting when just chatting casually. Very aggressive language/tone/intonation. Before I learnt this, many years ago, I would rush to see whats wrong and who is quarelling from the sound, just to see guyz laughing and pigaring tanoz. wololo!

Lakini pidgin ni noma...Ile lugha ya vita pia ni kisomali.

So mimi, I'm stupid sometimes, nikisikia mtu akishrub lazima nimuenjoy kidogo.

So this very close Somali buddy of mine anaongea vile alikuwa

Kwa parking lot akikamata boobs. I'll narrate the exchange.

Somali: Nilikuwa barking lot nikishika poops.

Mimi: Barking? Mbwa zilikuwa aina gani?...i'm laughing mdogo

Somali: Sio PARKING ya mpwa...yaani BARKING mahali gari iko

Mimi: I cannot contain myself at this point. Nika-angua ile kicheko ya kilo.

Somali: Are you laughing at me?

Mimi: No...no...no sicheki...nilisikia vibaya....mbavu zimeanza kuuma.

I still don't find the humor in someone shrubbing. Well when I was in high school I used to but not now. I kinda think its cliche'

Lucky you!!

Asked a guy to do something for me, and I got

"Am gon do um" or something to that effect, luckily he did do it.

And to think i was conducting business with a Nigerian and needed a translator, who happened to be a local indian there. Me and the Nigerian were both speaking english by the way

If you go to any restaurant around ICEA building on Fridays, near the mosque, you may find yourself surrounded by Somali wazee at various tables. Sounds like war and mayhem is about to break out at any moment.
