THE HIGH SCHOOL PRAYER -

The high school prayer:
Our Father who thou dwelleth in this dining hall,
Forgive our hungry stomachs,
But scramble we must for these fragments of food,
Because though the spirit be willing,
Thy flesh always has the final say,
And the word patience existeth not in this flesh.
Lead us not into temptation,
For we have already found it ourselves,
Deliver us from this necessary evil,
Of hunger and want,
That as we scramble, we might not kill one another,
But we shall embrace thy plates in peace, love and harmony,
And even though thy beans be undercooked,
That thy stomach shall be satisfied still,
And complain not of flatulence and gases.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And a bit of butter to make it easier to swallow,
Forgive us for our horrific etiquette,
As we forgive those that snatch our bread,
This we pray believing that lunch will be better,
In more quality and quantity,
Such that it will overflow gracefully upon our plates,
And runneth over as we go for a second round,
Though that is very unlikely to be so.
And oh God, I forgot to pray for supper,
That Lord we will have enough fill to last us the night,
Surely God forbid if we succumb to growlings of the belly in our sleep,.
This we pray, hoping that the cook will and forever remain in good health,
That Lord you will bless bountifully the works of his hands,
He is like our Moses and we are the Israelites,
If need be Lord, bless him with two more hands,
And a magic wand,
So that thy food comes in plenty,
For us to ensure our dire survival,
Amen.
