The thing is, I reckon alot of these judges arent necessarily making their judgements based on beauty, but who has the most "typical" African look, hence, short hair/bald, high cheek bones, big lips, darker skin and so forth. I think its unfair that a chick isnt chosen coz her beauty might resemble western beauty....so what if she has longer hair, or lighter skin? Who said that is "unAfrican" beauty in the first place.

I think yolanda, was our bestlooking miss kenya, but lacked brains and charisma.

The close-up on the Ethiopin girl is bad. She has terrible skin. I am sure the criteria for these contests includes a combination of different things but one must have flawless skin.. The one with the gap...and the bad weave Aiiiiiiiiii! We have a lot of beautiful women in Africa and only a handful of those girls come close.
Is that the best Kenya could do?

What are the African standards of beauty????
I think too many people are conforming to the ideals of the Western standards of beauty you know the long straight hair, pointy nose, light skin, different colors of the eyes, skinniness..the likes. So African women/females go to every length to achieve those standards and end up looking like God Knows what.Thats why those models up there have make up that doesnt even match their skin tone ( I have never known any African females who requires blush to enhance their cheek bones coz I occurs naturally) and the fake eyelashes. Thats why many African women end up thinking they are "Ugly" because their men are trying to force the look of the Western people on them and then ends up saying African women are not beautiful like Tyra banks and Who's who....

With that said and done I think a model would correctly potray a Beautiful African Woman without the caked make up and the weaves that dont even look like someone took time to put on there. I mean whats wrong with the dark skin,broad nose, natural/kinky hair and brown eyes that African women have????? There are very many beautiful women in Africa people just dont look at them that way ...


Like her I think she looks every bit African without the scary long fake eye lashes..
