Hey man!!!! The American dream is within your grasp......:)!!! Seriously though, who hasn't fallen in to a rut having come here and confronted over-optimism????!!!! Anyone telling you they haven't is lying. Key is stay grounded and focused. Also a good doze of connecting with your roots i.e. going home periodically does a lot of wonders. That is if you can.
While folks back home do have the 'pie in the sky' syndrome regarding the West in general, they're also tough as nails and DO read in between the lines, so shielding them from your struggles is probably causing you more grief than the harm you think it will do to them. As long as your folks/family feel you have a plan and are sticking to it, they can relate to the many bumps in the road and diversions you're facing. In fact, should you go home eventually despite many years of toil, they'll actually boast about your accomplishments despite the troubles.
Don't mean this to be a pep talk, just wanted to put across, keep your eye on the big picture....
