Police bridegroom deserts reception to catch thief

A policeman left his bride just as they were about to cut their wedding cake to chase and capture a car thief.

Madalin Ionut Stan spotted the man acting suspiciously in the car park outside the reception in Bucharest, Romania.

He chased him in his car and on foot, before fighting with him and finally tying him up with his belt.

Madalin was given a telling off by his bride Maria for disappearing for two hours and ruining his white wedding suit in the struggle.

The Evenimentul Zilei newspaper reports she told him: "Couldn't you stop from doing this even at your own wedding?"

Madalin was helped to take the suspect in by other policemen who were guests at his wedding.

He said: "The wedding was kind of compromised but I know it was worth it."
