Does someone who was born to Kenyan parents but not lived in Kenya own the title more than a 2nd generation Kenyan Indian who knows no other home? I think not. 'Kenyan' is not narrowly defined by skin color and tribe. Kenya is a multiracial society.

Kenyans can be black. It isn't like all those whom you mention suffered the same yoke of colonialism that black Africans suffered. It isn't like there were white men and women being required to carry kipande and being forced to live in resettlement schemes. Show me anyone white who rejected the privileges accorded to the white people in Kenya during the dark days of colonialism in order to join and be part and parcel of the independence movement.

If at all one was comfortable living the life of the coloniser, then there is no reason when the colonised has become free, for the coloniser to remain. His colonial duties being over, he cannot expect to be welcomed into the fold of the recently redeemed coz he is not.

Fascism or Radical Nationalism will be required to not only set the rules but to also carry out a complete and irreversible total crushing of the coastal foreigners who are nothing but a bunch of foreigners who are threatening to turn the country into a drug infested crime filled gomorrah!

I say a clear and unwavering sense of who is Kenyan will be required so that we can smash the Arab drug rings in the Coastal area, wipe out the Italian mobsters of Malindi, get rid of Coastal Germans and finally deal with illegal and criminal immigrants from India and Pakistan.

A policy of jail and deport! Even if some of our people have ruined the economy(Moi et al) we will not allow FOREIGNERS to add to that misery. Like Mussolini did in Italy we shall make organised crime wish it had never existed!

i agree with u but have a question for u, my mum was born in US while my dad was born in kenya. They are both kenyans, i wonder where i am from. i was born in US and raised in America but moved to kenya in my early teens and then moved back to US in my mid teens.am i african american , kenyan,or american kenyan?

For all intents and purposes you are American with Kenyan heritage. There are Asian American who were born here but their parents come from Asia.

You really havent had much of the Kenyan experience to be Kenyan. But you are part of the community by virtue of being part of the diaspora. However, little is to be found in common between the life you intend to lead and what many Kenyans lives at home will end up being like.

I have to agree with MTT, I think the nationality that u are is about what country u were born. U can be american by birh and kenyan by descent or heritage. In the present society, there is just a few of us who can actually say they were born to parents from the same community and grew up in that very community. Gone are the days when a kid was identified by his father's cultural or tribal background.
I am Luo all the way, but if I had my child fathered by an Indian born and raised guy, and had my baby in New zealand, then my kid will be Kiwi by all means.

Kenyans are people either born in kenya or spent a significant amount time of their life (legal immigrants)in Kenya....regardless of colour.

mtt's problems with foreigners is based purely on class priviledge. However, not everyone is an activist or has the strength to fight for other's rights even when they beleive that something wrong is going on otherwise the holocaust or rwandan genocide would not have been successful.
"Self and family first" is human nature.

Since kikuyus "ate" in the 70's does that justify them being oppressed today even though many never really got anything? To hit even closer to home, have you joined the black struggle by rejecting white priviledge. Are you supporting/a black colleges with your talents or are your talents going towards the white elite community you despise? That make you worse than the white colonialists. you are 'living the life of coloniser'.

I tend to agree with MTT too on this one.Its just that some of this "Kenyans" have really screwed up the country and yet still call themselves Kenyan citizens.This is especially so evident in the coastal area.
