There is a lot of truth in what Mwananchi wrote, the key words being "unwritten rules" and societal "ridicule"!

Some of the those are even written rules!

The problem with most Kenyan men is that they love shading the bad light towards Kenyan girls. I agree most of us are not lesbians and that abortion is not a common thing in Kenya, but the dressing and behavioural issues have been totally misrepresented

Seems like my sarcasm was lost on a few Pixie. If you're gonna seek societal approval for everything you do yours will be one narrow and confused life. Remember you cannot please everybody. Do what makes you happy. You are not responsible for anybody's happiness but your own.

More unwritten rules for Kenyan women:

1. She shouldn't date too soon after a break-up
2. She cannot sleep with a man too soon after they meet
3. She cannot have too many men friends
4. She should not sue a Kenyan man for child support

Roma, what is there to be jealous of? That says Kenyans are big time haters who like to bring God and culture into their malice. When its not about the car or house or job, then it’s personal life under attack!
Mwananchi I find it hard to believe that today there are still people, except old folks, (moreso in the US) who cling onto such beliefs the way you say Kenyans do. i.e sex is morally wrong or that 3. She should never approach a man, 10. She should not smoke, She cannot have too many male friends etc. If Kenyans are so moral, why is HIV, teenage pregnancy rampant in Kenya? Worda umenena, people have screwed up stands on morality and their own innocence.
I hope Kenyans can work to eliminate these bigoted, perceptions of life.

The male version of Mwananchi’s list is as follows:

Kenyan men must follow strict unwritten rules or risk ridicule from their peers.

1. He should be circumcised and proud to shout it from the mountain top.
2. He should have a big braggable ding-a-ling.
3. He should have money or portray massive potential of getting money.
4. He should never ever show fear in public.
5. Tears are a sign of weakness.
6. He should cat-call every woman in sight.
7. He should stare at any woman’s butt in tight jeans.
8. He should approach any woman even when she is way above his reach.
9. He should pursue pursue pursue like his life depends on it.
10. His inner circle of friends must like her.
11. His mother must approve of her.
12. He should be an alcoholic because quantity is what determines his manhood.
13. He should set the rules otherwise he is ***** whipped.
14. He should never let her correct him in public even if he speaks sheer bullshyt.
15. His crib has to look like a pig sty.
16. He should rewind dirty clothes ---> just smell the trouser crotch or shirt underarms to decide if any scent is detectable.
17. After peeing, just flip flop and tack it back in ---> as good as new. Using tissue or wipes may mean you are gay!

Women any more I have missed out???

AuNatural liked the political one. Kenyan men MUST politik ---> the louder the voice, the stronger the argument.

another unwritten rule is on cars, they must never admit to like Mini's, VW's or Fiat Uno's the bigger the car, the more powerful he seems.

Miss K,
Well known and proven fact....women are always hating on each other...you will even go as far as lying to each other out of jealousy. How many women can confidently say that they don't envy other women??? How many will give credit where its due??? How many will lose good friends out of jealousy??? How many spread malicious rumours out of jealousy??

Things to be envious of....
1. She has a better job than you.
2. Makes more money than you.
3. Has better taste in clothes than you.
4. Looks better than you.
5. Has a man you wish was yours.
The list is endless.
