Default Oromia: The Forgotten Nation - 03-12-2002, 01:35 PM

Oromo people are crying out for their freedom but these cries seem to be ignored. The The Oromo Liberation Front is a result of the citizens of Oromia who could no longer bear the atrocities committed against them the Ethiopian regime. Although the Oromo nation is one of the largest in Africa, it is forgotten by or still unknown to the majority of the world today. Unfortunately even the name Oromo is unknown to many, and this should not be allowed to continue. Oromia is a nation that has existed in the East Africa region since ancient times. The Boran and Orma of Kenya are all part of the larger Oromo tribe. Only God know how many Oromo’s fled Ethiopia during the expansion of the Abysynia Empire and Red Terror campaign of the former regime. For those of you who read Kenya textbooks the Oromo are also referred to as the Galla.
Extra-judicial killings, "disappearances", illegal arrests, torture, gang-rape, confiscation of property, detention for a long period are systematic and pervasive especially against persons of Oromo origin. The Oromo are currently stuggling to create their own independent state. Learn about the Oromo struggle and tell your friends about it.

There are some tribes in kenya that are treated less Kenyan eg.. the ones Sadik mentioned. I havent not met one kenyan who knows about Oromo struggles yet the oromo language is the 3th most widely spoken language in africa. Sadik, oromos are strong people they've been through alot I would say that oromo's have began a what i would call a cultural revolution. one only has to attend an meeting in north america to see for yourself. Oromo's with PHD yet maintaining oromo values.

Oromo's are very friendly people and they get along well with others, they love their country Oromia and the kenyan oromo's love kenya.

>while they would be keen to run
>wild for the 'rights and privileges
>of the Palestinians', or any other
>foreign 'crucified >people'

Sadik: I've never known kenyans to be sypathetic to palestenians imajin Yasser Arafat visting kenya! remember the kurdish leader of the PPK? when he was arrested in kenya only few people were sympathetic to him. Anyway thats beside the point.

i just want my fellow kenyans to know about the oromo and what they are fighting for.
