News Just in: The spokesman of the outlawed Mungiki sect, Njuguna Gitau, has been shot dead.

Mr Gitau was shot in the head on Nairobi's Luthuli Avenue, according to witnesses at the scene. They said he had been walking on the street with three men when an argument broke out. One of them drew a pistol and shot him before the attackers fled the scene.

Me thinks this man was silenced ahead of the OCampo's visit. Having been involved in clandestine missions on behalf of the powers that be during the PEV, I'm sure he had enough information to bring down the big man.

Yes we might say his death was long overdue but on the other hand we have to ask ourselves why now. Why now? That even during the time of the extrajudicial killings, the guy (Njuguna) was safe and alive. He used to make outrageous statement and was an activist who was never shy from cameras but after Maina gets released for threatening to spill the beans and denounces Mungiki and joins ODM, that is when the guy gets finished.

This is a tough message to Maina. Going to CID headquarters to report will not help. Gunning down of your spokesman was a pilot Killing to test the public reaction once they come for you. From the gullible public, the reaction is good. They believe your Killing is necessary and that masses will clebrate your death just like they have celebrated the Killing of your spokesman. Maina you are in big big sh1t.

The only guy who can save your arse is Aguambo and ODM brigade. Your problem is political and not criminal. The other option is, you prepare to die, my brother. I am sorry folks impunity reigns.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Seems like those who used him are scared that he'll talk - remember he was said to be born again? I'm afraid such deaths will be on the rise in the coming weeks and months.
