For those asking, why now:
Firstly, the guy had too much blood on his hands.
He was not even clever. Too much domo domo. Every time he held a press conference, I wondered; is this guy suicidal?
This is the ultimate test for Maina Njenga. He attends the guy’s funeral, Kenyans will confirm he has not changed, and he might not see Christmas. Alternatively, he skips the funeral and decides to live a quiet life. His followers will read betrayal, but that would be the beginning of the end for the sect.
Just look at his cousin and co-founder of the sect, Ndura Waruingi. He decided to leave the sect and enjoy the millions he had extorted… note that he has never even talked about the jailing of his cousin Maina.
So Maina has a choice. He chooses the sect- he dies. He leaves the sect, he lives. Choice is his.
BTW, the problem with Maina is that he is not clever. When he was released, he held a party at his home, and the list of guests was like who is who of the sect. further, some very dangerous statements were made. I call that stupidity cos even a man of medium intelligence should assume there must have been government spies in the house.
