You give an African vehicle for transportation, they turn it into a killing machine. Even when it is obvious that maybe the way they operate it ndiyo shida, oh No...they want to bring God into the argument.

You teach an African how democrasia works, how to elect leaders, OH NO..civil war has to result from it. People have to die because someone lost.

How about education? Pick up some in the village, give them education, even upto phD level, then release them to go back and do go for the home base..when they speak, they would still sound like they never learnt anything. Or they would be let down by their own people... The list can go on and on. Western civilization has been a force for good for Africa, But seeing how most Africans behave today, in this modern age, I am sure most whites felt justified to link them to apes back then.
Did you see Beth Mugo and Saitoti with a cob of corn? Bad foto op!

Hey guys relax on Majeshi i think he is really a disillusioned African who doesnt know how much progress we have made.

Think about it just 100 years ago Africans were just tribes with very small populations sparsely distrubuted over the giant land mass that is Africa.

For example the Kikuyu tribe which was is largest in Kenya(by virtue of swallowing the maasai and ndorobo and ogiek tribes) by 1900 had a population of 800,000 people spread over huge tracts of Land.

Because of this smallness of African tribes they were unable to reach the critical mass of people needed to develop fields such as science and math though they had already developed counting systems and systems of Government(Councils of Elders)

The Europeans who in 1900 had 3-5 times the population of Africans had already gone through the tribal phase 1,000 years before and developed systems of government, business and military were able to colonize Africa. The rest as you know is history.

The Africans for the last 100 years despite all the setbacks has made the most progress fastest. Within 100 years from leaving traditional life most Kenyans can Speak 3 languages and do Basic math. We have fast growing towns and cities.

Despite corruption, disease Africa is now the fastest growing continent economically. Countries like Mauritius, Botswana are now in the middle income categories are moving to developed status soon.

Rwanda, Angola are expected to be middle income economies in another 10 years. All of this is despite the challenges we face as a people.

SO for me there is alot to be hopeful for, if only we can set aside tribal differences and work together things will be even better.

As for Gadaffi he did raise some valid and interesting points albeit in a hysterical manner

Hell the greek parthenon was built 1500 years before christ for christssakes (and for the afrocentrics, if u want to get punched by an egyptian call him a negro). It is also undeniable to us all that had a white man never set foot in Africa, we would presently be draped in hides (reserved for our chiefs mind you), clutching spears, and living in mud caked huts
The truth of the matter is this demokrasia thing is new to us and Africa as a whole. The french revolution ended in 1799, when the peasants said they had enough of the aristrocacy feeding themselves "cake" while they rioted for bread. In due time, I believe Africa will awake from its deep slumber (very deep indeed) and will become a major player on the international stage.
Put them in the same classroom, Africans are as good or even better at cramming and dishing out what they cramed. When it comes to creativity, or problem solving..they come no closer. They are no where...

You can find a white boy with little or no education, go thru a complex system to understand how it works and even make it better..
The number of Africans in the state that would qualify to be called white elephant projects are many. Most Africans that go to the US for education, do not last long in chuo for one reason or another, or it would take them 8 years to get a 4 yrs degree. But that is still better than the majority who do not make it far. Nigerians have done well in the academia..and everything else, good or bad. But Africa as a whole, NO way!

If you look at Kenya alone, the key indicators such as literacy, unemployment, disease, access to clean drinking water, security, access to healthcare, infrastructure.... I would not brag about anything. well, you could be right, if your standard ni ya 100yrs ago, I am, Happy! Check the literacy rate in Kenya before you make that point. I would not brag about speaking 3 languages, 2 of which probably have no economic value whatsoever. I am sure even Kibaki can brag about speaking three languages, swahili being one of them! Yaah right!

I am not whining, am just putting a mirror before a bunch of people here living in denial. If anything, am just having a conversation. That's all

I have never lived in that "class", if anyone wanna lumped me there, it is all good. But I get your bigger point. Most africans always like the good side of things, even when they are begging!

I beg to differ on this.
Alot of US born citizens dont even graduate from high school. In the Kenya I grew up, it is a taboo to drop out of high school. Am sorry BUT Africans put alot more emphasis on education, then the stoner PS2 or is it PS3 generation skateboarding cracker. It is the intrinsic survival mode that makes the African ace those campus tests , even though for alot of us, english is a second language.

US has a population of a little over 300 million people, if am not wrong. The population of people with 4 year degree is less than 18%, that is pretty bad when you have like 10 colleges within 5 miles of most neighborhoods, or something like that. When govt. can pay for your tuition for the poor....I know that sucks..
But these people are more creative and innovative than minorities. Look at their country and the advancements that they have made. You can come across a minority with a college education, but still lacks critical thinking skills. In fact most minorities do not have good critical thinking skills. They have great social skills.
I am not impressed with acing them tests, but it is first step. Give an african a scenario, and have him use critical thinking to problem solve..utashangaa....but ask him about definition or something he crammed from a text book, he would write you a book. Most Africans do not do well at a graduate level..taking serious majors. Kuna other factors like working longer hours, shida za nyumbani etc that contribute to that..but whites are original thinkers

Mr Majeshi i hope you live long enough to see how important Cultural Assets including local languages are important for development. They are an undiscovered and underutilized gold.

You are right on critical thinking, though i might add it is a correlation effect of there relatively few Graduates of African descent in Graduate schools world wide.

Critical thinking is a trained skill and is taught in very elite teaching centers that are accessed by the priviledged few. Very few schools like this exist in Kenya.

Infact i can only think of 3 schools in Kenya.

But dont loose hope Majeshi if you do who will lead your brothers and sisters. Obama said we are the ones we have been waiting for.

I agree with you on all your points. Without creativity, innovation, critical thinking capability, we will continue mortgaging the future of our nation to the Libyans and the foreigners we are always quick to condemn. Why can't we talk about constitution issues, but still handle other things..even in science and technology. Dishing out districts will not touch our untapped natural reasources.
And to tell you the truth, Our culture is a minus! Do not buy cultural diversity junk..that is to appease minorities.
The truth is that most, if not all ethnocentric communities throughout the world are poor! why, every excuse has a cultural context. You seem like a reasonable man. Just think about the statement I have just made. Get into some databases you ahve access to and check out statistics.
Kenya still has land issues.my God!

You have a fair point. Just by thinking of a few examples ethno centric communities seem to lag behind those that have modernized some what. A good example is the maasai. However this is not always the case, Jews are at the top of every scientific field but they very ethnocentric to the extent that they marry within themselves.

The Japanese have also merged modernization with their own culture. Can the maasai do the same.

On another unrelated point Mr Majeshi its seems you are quite capable of critical thinking i wonder how you could be the same person who spits out tribal vitrol. Is it a case of dual personality.
