It is hard to understand we shouldn't learn from from the west..they already have established programs that we can easily copy and implement. but the problem might be the literacy status of the popelation making it highly susceptible to manipulation by people seeking selfish personal interests.

Only if we become the Kenyans Kenya needs.

Kenya has all the resources to solve our many problems that are basically a product of poor planning (if any), poor political practice, and general lack of responsibility on the part of all Kenyans (after all, it is us who vote in the miscreants we call leaders, on the basis of tribe, depth of pockets e.t.c), it is us that laud our 'tribesmen' after they loot public coffers and fight of any indictments as attacks on 'one of our own', bla bla bla.
So unless we change our voting patterns, start to demand accountability from all in places of authority, and become accountable for our own actions, we shall keep on having more rants such as this while the nation hastens its descent into the mire of failed states.

So, although it has become cliche, I have to say it begins with us. Specifically the youth and I use this term to describe an age group between 18 and 45(and please, Orengo, Ruto, et al do not qualify, not in these era.) have got the step up, and retake this nation from the jaws and claws of the current crop of jejune politicians whose politics are at best ephemeral or as someone recently described them, the "cream of the crap".

List of countries by literacy rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Notice on the link above Kenya literacy rate is even higher to countries like Indiain adult literacy rate

and for youth literacy rate

Indicator information: Globalis - an interactive world map

higher even than Botswana

two problems and was highlighted in a recent nation article. We are a very short sighted and selfish electrorate.

I can wriet a whole thesis on Kenyans lack of sacrifice in the last 40 years and the reason we lead the world in corruptions and theft

but its all about us being selfish

Is it possible to have Kenya we want?

MOST DEFINITELY!

However, we as Kenyans have to be in it, with a common cause of growing as a country to benefit all as a people!

Secondly, it will take a longer time span to reach to the level of where probably every one of us has what is termed as comfortable standards of living, nonetheless, this shouldn't be a hindrance nor discouragement.

Moreover, if others have done it why not Kenya?

Kiptur it is possible, remember early 2003 the new govt just in power began so well, they were actually fighting corruption but greed overshadowed and conquered some of the inner circle cabinet and the entire moral came down tumbling.

It is just puzzling to me,kenya is the country with most educated youths, and most religious in the region, yet when it comes to politics folly and injustice rules.

Yes in deed it is possible. This is how:

Eliminate the parochial negative tribalism.

Vote out all current sitting MPs

Vote in younger MPs- 45 and below

Enact a new constitution with stronger public institutions especially the judiciary

Retrain all the disciplined forces

Jail all past thieves(economic and political)

Enact a clause in the constitution that bars any former convict from holding political office

Have governance and democracy be part of the regular high school and college carriculum

I could go on for ever !
