Default Return of Grand corruption: Ruto to give Kenya Seed Co. to Tum - 05-12-2008, 06:51 AM

After the former agriculture minister kirwa and the narc govt successfully reclaimed the kenya seed company from nathaniel tum (who had transferred the parastatal to himself), the current minister ruto has been holding discussions with tum with a view of giving the company back to him. It should be recalled that tum heavily funded odm campaigns during the last elections and even contested (during the nominations) on odm. Was this the reason for his generosity? was he promised that the parastatal would be given back to him? is this the kind of change that the kenya public was expecting from the odm team? aren’t they taking us back to the days of kanu’s grand corruption? what does the government coordinator (pm) have to say about this? nationmedia.com | daily nation | business | could kenya seed be changing hands again?

Default Get your facts right - 05-12-2008, 07:40 AM

Read the story again,
Dr. Romano Kiome, (the PS and a PNU appointee) and not Hon. William Rutto, (the Minister and an ODM appointee) is roundly quoted as:
1. stating that he is tired of waiting for KACC and wants to dispose off the matter at the earliest opportunity,
2. confirming & then denying that he had met with Dr. Nathaniel Tum and the other shareholders,
3. confirming that he contracted a consultant to advise on how to sort the matter,
4. unilaterally changing the deadline for the consultants to report,
5. panicking over some unnamed persons intention to scuttle the AGM,

Get your facts right, Dr. Tum was a contestant under and chief financier of ODMK which is Kalonzo's party and part of the PNU.

If in doubt check here Tum Online Secretariat

Finally, you may not know it, but Dr. Tum served as chairman of Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) between 1989 and 1996 and guess who was the Director of KARI then? Dr. Romano Kiome.

This is a big problem we have. We can call each other names, trivialize everything into politics of tribes, but we always miss the point. What has been clearly analysed here is the usual problem - the "old boys" networks that usually go beyond tribes

I realise that patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone.

....... and the people of kenya fought n died for change! next time you are invited to riot or throw a stone think twice! Tum is suspected of burning the kenys seed co. offices to destroy the co. records.

1.the guy had illegally transfered kenya seed co.shares to himself n friends
2.During his tenure, kenya seed co. was packing commercial maize and selling it as certified seed, imagine selling maize meant for food as seed. this made maize farmers then to incur huge losses due to decreased yields

surely kenya is not short of transparent and pple of intergrity who can do a better job than TUM and his friend Ruto
am kale but it pains a now succesful kenya seed co. reverted to its previous failed state.

I think its time kenyans whether in ODM or PNU ask for better management of public resources.

Well said there - people should start thinking as Kenyans and address the problems created by our leaders

Default Kibaki Sells off Grand Regency Cheaply to Libya - 05-13-2008, 01:40 AM

2 billion is what the Hotel was valued at over several years ago, now the value is reported to have tripled and it may well cost a whooping (over)7 billion.

Yet Kibaki and his henchmen want to dispose it cheaply to his campaign financiers, Libya whom they have since allow to acquire all Mobil outlets under the Oilibya gas company deal as partial honouring of PNU's mou with Gaddaffi. The most shocking thing is that no any other bidders have been invited yet there are bidders who are willing to give more than 2 billion for the purchase of the facility. The Bidder has reportedly bought the huge space next to GPO currently used as car park in anticipation of the purchase for purposes of extension of the facility.

I smell fish. And to think that the man charged with corruption is the same one who was sent persuade Patni into giving it up in exchange for revocation of all corruption charges him reeks high up to heavens. ODM's entry into government has once again put Kibaki into a fix. No such transaction will be done under the PM's nose.

By the way am skeptic about the 400 million raised for the IDPs. To me, it looks like it will go along in pleasing another kind of IDPs ( Immensely Discontent Persons). If not guarded with closely this money may end up in some accounts in Libya. Gaddafi is greatly displeased at the pace at which things are moving and is pressuring Kibaki into giving up The GR.

Can PANUA people tell off Kimunya, Kibaki, Ringera and Uhuru, all Mt Kenya thieves, who want to pull a fast one us again.

Kindly show me where I am trying to do that. Take your sweet time. I sure you are talking about someone else.
