Default Raila’s kisumu party: 500 bulls, 4000 goats, 20000 fish to be slaughtered, shocking! - 05-08-2008, 03:21 PM

It was extremely shocking and disgusting to watch on the 9 o’clock news that Raila will slaughter 500 bulls, 4000 goats and has ordered 20,000 fish for his homecoming party in Kisumu this weekend. This raises very many questions:

1. how can he afford this kind of extravagance when the country is reeling from the terrible effects of post election violence and in country where 70% of the population have little or nothing to eat. Isn’t this a big insult to the poor and also the IDPs (including thousands of Jaluo IDPs in Naivasha and Nakuru)

2. isn’t this the classical sick behaviour of dictators like Mobutu, Canaan Banana of Central Africa republic, Idi Amin etc. Is this road where he wants to take us?

3. why hold the party in kisumu when his constituency is in kibera? Is he a PM for jaluos only? What message is he trying to send to the country?

4. how come we never heard of Kibaki slaughtering thousands of bulls and goats in Nyeri to celebrate being elected president in 2002, 2008?

5. now that this is coming barely a week after arriving from south Africa in a private jet what message is he sending? Is it that there was no KQ, BA or South Africa Airlines flight from Jo’burg to Nairobi?

6. how come he is the only kenyan driving hummers, using private jets and holding lavish parties in Kenya while wananchi are trying to adjust to the harsh economic realities caused by his actions? He also represents the poorest constituency in kenya. Why not use the money to uplift the lives of his constituents? Is this his version of servant leadership?

Default what is shocking is kibaki and the grand Regency thieving deal!!explain to kenyans !! - 05-08-2008, 03:40 PM

[quote=leleshwa;660855]it was shocking and disgusting is kibaki and his theft of grand regency hotel with the lybians!!!

fresh details which emerged today regarding the secret and hurried plans by president kibaki to sell off the landmark grand regency hotel to a libyan company revealed the grand corruption that riddled pnu campaigns in the december 27 general election.

it emerged that the sale revolves around a secret memorandum of understanding (mou) president kibaki signed with libya’s president muammar gaddafi during a three-day visit to libya last june as part of his global plans the raise funds to run his re-election.

libyan leader muammar qaddafi with president mwai kibaki when he bade him farewell after his three day visit in sirte, libya.president kibaki had lost favour in the traditional western friends of kenya and his following at home had taken a nose-dive due to his poor leadership and his involvement in the anglo leasing scandal and he was desperately looking for alternative sources of raising campaign funds.

Libya came in handy – but with a heavy price. President gaddafi required a substantial control of kenya’s wealth in order to bail out president kibaki who was facing the biggest test of his political career in the december 27 polls. During the begging mission, the two presidents “negotiated” and agreed on an mou that has a direct bearing in the sorry state of affairs regarding the grand regency hotel.

Titled "agreement on promotion guarantee and protection on investment," the mou was signed by kenya's then minister for trade, dr mukhisa kituyi, and dr ali elisaue, secretary general of libya's general people's committee for the economy and investment.

I tend to think that if one builds a monster they should be ready for the attendant nightmares. People have underestimated the dictator in Raila for a long time. The slaughtering of the bulls signify one who is getting out of touch with reality. Imagine people are on the verge of hunger and the dude is doing this. The unfortunate thing is that there are some people who are looking forward to the feast. How i wish he had used the money on a project in Kibera(Langata)

kenyatta is the monster who killed j.m kariuki and many others in cold blood!!kibaki has followed by example!! police shoot to kill order!! mungiki funded genocide in nakuru and naivasha and the assassination of mp were and too of odm(by kibaki the monster)

when kenya became independent, kariuki worked as kenyatta’s private secretary between 1963 to 1969. In late 1960, kariuki relationship with kenyatta became increasingly strained as kariuki became increasingly vocal of kenyatta's policy.

Some of their disagreement were: government corruption. The widening gap between rich and poor due to drought and the oil shock of 1973. Deteriorating relations among east african community members. Unfair distribution of land:

after independence, united kingdom government gave kenyatta government funds to buy back land from the white settlers and redistribute it back to the natives. However, the land was never redistributed, but most of it was handed over to kenyatta's close friends. This was somehow similar to what happened in ussr early 90s.

in 1974, he was elected as nyandarwa's member of parliament and became an assistant minister in the kenyatta government between 1974 and 1975.

This was despite kenyatta government pulling all strings at its disposal to avoid his re-election as his popularity threatened to overshadow the government of the day. He was last seen alive at the hilton hotel, accompanied by kenyatta's bodyguard on march 2, 1975.

several days later, kariuki's remains were found by a maasai herdsman, musaita ole tunda, in a thicket in the ngong hills. His fingers had been chopped off and eyes gouged out.

Is this the level of political discourse we have succumbed to? How will debating what Raila or Kibaki had for lunch solve the social, political and economic issues facing Kenya? You lambasted Raila's extravagance and termed it an insult to the IDP's, yet you fail to point out what his extravagance has to do with the IDP's. Are we to assume from now on any Kenyan out there spending their hard earned cash is an insult to the IDP's or does this only apply to Raila? And since you have gone to lengths to paint Raila the monster, what has the "duly elected president" donated from his vast empire of corruptly acquired wealth? ...Oh I forgot, he is beyond reproach and anyone who thinks otherwise should be lined up against the wall and shot.

God help me to do only what I can and trust You for the rest. Do you mind putting that in writing?

You sound disoriented. I may be wrong.
But there is nothing morally wrong with that.

I believe you would have thrown a party as well. The party is not political. It is an homecoming party.

When Raila held a party in which he invited dignitaries, PNU and ODM legislators, no one raised a finger of complaint.

Now that he is doing it in Kisumu, man you cry foul!

That is not corruption unless Kibaki's rule has made us see things differently.

And by the way, he is spending his money. Those complaints you are bringing forward should be adressed to the government - or rather the finance minister.

And I do not see anything wrong if he is flying in a private jet with his wife.

Haven't we seen the whole family of Kibaki, friends an his cronies cramming a KQ flight when he went to America to do shopping!!!!

Do you remember how that cost you and me?

And what is in a hummer. Oluoch, the footballer, like many more has one.

Sounds you are full of bitter gall for no apparent reason.

I know of people who try to create elephants out of cockroaches.
Men who try to create a storm.
Storms are natural. They come on their own.
We don't create them and I can see you trying to create one.

Default Needy courses - 05-08-2008, 09:49 PM

There could be more needy courses - not that a home coming party is not worth. But what about organizing a big medical camp along side the party, and so many others!

I realise that patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone.

^^Good point Kabunja. Personally I detest parties, I would never do one. But again with politicains, that is one of the ways they use to stay in touch with their constituents. I remember Kibaki and ilk had goat eating parties in 2003 in Nyeri and people thought that was ok. Remember Ephraim Maina of Kirinyaga contractor hosting them?
