Obama is holding on to a good lead in the popular vote, a statistically significant difference. The Gallup poll puts him today (14 Oct) at 51% to John McCain's 41%. He also leads among registered voters, and among "most likely" voters.
In terms of electoral college math, realclearpolitics.com is giving him 304-158, with the number of toss-ups down to only 76 states. This is the widest margin I have ever seen. Elsewhere, 106 yr old Catholic Sister Cecilia Gaudette, born on March 25, 1902, is voting for the first time since 1952, via Internet from Rome, where she has lived for 50 years. 106-year-old Obama-supporting nun shocked by fame - Yahoo! News After Gaudette appeared on CBS News in the United States and on BBC radio saying she was voting for the first time since 1952 and that it would be for Obama, the convent was besieged by calls from reporters and media outlets across the world.Threat/risk survey Tony Rezko, Obama's shady friend (fundraiser, estate agent/developer), is in jail and is talking. "Rezko funded Obama’s earliest political campaigns and helped the Obamas purchase an expensive home with a remarkable discount. Additionally, Rezko offered Obama a job when the latter finished law school. The AP believes, however, that the fallout for Obama will be reasonably minimal, in so far that it may be difficult for investigators to truly ‘find dirt’ on Obama’s involvement with questionable acts." The Competition * Sarah Palin's mistakes fans' cheers for jeers, tells them off! Not too bright? Suppose she mistakes Canada for Iran, and bombs it! For his part, McCain is echoing Obama's theme over and over again: - McCain offers tougher criticism of Bush economics - Yahoo! News "We cannot spend the next four years as we have spent much of the last eight: waiting for our luck to change," McCain said while campaigning with running mate Sarah Palin in this once reliably Republican state that has become a battleground this year. "The hour is late; our troubles are getting worse; our enemies watch. We have to act immediately. We have to change direction now."That's plagiarism!!! Copyright infringement!!!!!!

Kudos to John McCain for a well-prepared attack. Every time he hit Barack "That One" Obama, I felt the force.
However, bigger kudos to Obama for his ability to absorb and diffuse all blows. His handling was wonderful, even though McCain put him on dangerous ground. I think previously McCain has twice had slips of the tongue saying "my fellow prisoners" to the audience. Last night, he addressed Obama as "Senator Government" ----- first signs of senility?

On a serious note, this was by far the best debate. They got nasty and Senator John McCain kept it rudely interesting by interrupting and sneering and snickering at everything Obama said like a pissed off child who can't have what he wants. I liked it. The town hall one blew a.ss big time.
