What is wrong with Africans and inferiority complex. Look at what this girl has to say about herself. Shameless! I hope she loses the competition.
Ati, "I grew up in a small cultured village filled with traditional rituals and taboos of a primitive society"

Why can't we be proud of our culture and stop referring to it as primitive. Why can't we be proud of our culture like Asians?

Miss Africa USA 2008

She should know that that village was not so primitive because it got her to where she is right now.

I got your point but i am sure that she didn't mean to underrate her origin when she wrote that. Actually, maybe it is not the lady who wrote it. She is my friend and i know the passion she has of representing kenya.

Girl82 is absolutely right.

How many people still think that drinking porridge from agwata is primitive? If you asked me, most people consider life in the rural setting as poor, inferior, and ill.

@grip i am not for the fact that our culture is primitive. All i am saying is that mob stuff on the net is written by people who know very little of what they write. Maybe this lady has grown in Nairobi all her life. The article there was just a piece of info about the lady's origin that happened to be incorrect information depending on preception. lets not create a storm over this cup of tea. I'd rather we were telling people to go and vote for this lady.

Agwata is a Luo name for a natural bowl specifically for drinking porridge.

About the signature, I realized that they actually died; and that they have no intentions of waking up at all-so I won't be bothered.

Maybe we should exclude the specific lady herein referred to and focus on the general perception of "ladies and gentlemen" in question.

I have heard similar lines over and over again...it must, therefore, be an issue.

I'm with girl82 and grip dady on this one. I cant remember how often I've heard people say country life (read village) is primitive and etc. And I've always said primitive is a relative word. I find people who came from nairobi (and therefore apparently civilized) struggling with what those in states can consider "basic". It is a mentality that amazes me. Even listening to oldie african music is apparently uncivilized coz the civilized only listen to Rihanna..lol...seriously.

Even the jungus must be laughing...da hell.
