Is comedy talent inherent or nurtured? -
08-08-2008, 09:38 AM
Take for example Kajairo or Mr bean, can someone be trained to make people laugh ama its just something you are born with?
let us debate this without prejudice.
If A equals success, then the formula is A = X + Y+Z. X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut.

It's inherent then nurtured and moulded.

i think its an inborn talent, then as an individual grows its nurtured and perfected, its like musicians, nobody can teach you how to sing, even the voice coaches, you can either sing or you cant, its a matter of nurturing what an individual has already.

yu can be taught how to sing and become a great musician,it's a matter of practice so is being a comedian especially the tv ones where yu just read a script.

anybody can read a script a.k.a, even my 5 year old niece can read a joke but it takes someone with inborn comic instincts to make it funny. Yes you can go to music school and be trained but that is only to a certain point, if you do not truly have the music talent or, if you do not have an ear for music, your vocals are simply not strong enough to make you an outstanding musician and this applies to comedy too.

I hear Ojwang harari was not a comedian before,he was inspired by tama bin tama.

i think the really good comedians are born with the talent, they just perfect it as they grow up sometimes through experience, training, or both.
We also have comedians who gradually learn how to tell jokes or to identify funny situations/issues and draw jokes out of them. they are however not as refined as the natural born comics.

There's also an element of finding the right audience. Some guyz are funny but are not appreciated. Some are mediocre but are well loved.
