ngeta: (n) a sheng word that refers to the act of strangulation. Synonyms:
nyongolo, tisa, kutekiwa( the act of being strangled),
jekii, lock et al.
Ngeta gained its notorierity in the late 80s and has continued to pose a problem presently owing to unemployment and the emergence of an ultra materialistic culture in the city. The victim is first identified and an ambush is laid by a gang of young men, usually 5 (otherwise known as
maodinare). Each member is assigned his task- usually one person executes the
ngeta while the rest frisk you everything.
It is often joked that these boys can meticulously frisk you and remove your socks while your shoes are intact.

On a serious note though, the victim is usually left in a daze with most muttering how close they were to being robbed.
