It is so easy. Just call the embassy (202)387-6101

The address is 2249 R St, NW
Washington, DC

I think you pay $25 for a 5-year renewal. I did mines last year and it took less than a week. This was without bribes, but mind you the kaoffice reminds you of Kenya.

THANKS ALOT. I WAS WORRIED THAT IT WOULD BE LIKE HOME. DO THEY HAVE TO SEND THEM HOME FIRST OR DO THEY MAKE THEM RIGHT IN CANADA AND THE USA AT THE EMBASSY?

no they dont send them home. they renew them from the country you are at they can send it to your home address or you can go pick it up from the kenyan embassy in canada. must be a piece of cake.

Immigration departments at Embassies and High Commissions have the authority or mandate to renew and issue new passports.

For renewal, just fill in the relevant forms and in most cases, you should get it within a week for postal applications, and within a few hours for personal visits.

For a new passport, usually you just need to photocopy the relevant 6 pages with your details, and the page that contains your file number and attache a few snaps with the application and a relevant form. You should receive a new passport back within 4-6 weeks, but you can use the old unexpired passport while this is going on.

We have answered this here before. However, for completeness I will agree with what others have said.

Mid Dec last year, I downloaded the form from the website, filled it, sent it to DC with $25.00 money order through a registered mail. I enclosed a self addressed envelope. Withing two weeks I received it back.

I am besides myself with fury!
I submitted my passport 3 weeks ago by overnight mail and tracked it so I know it arrived and was signed for.
I had attached a fedex return envelope for my return and I am still waiting!
Called the embassy and they tell me the post office had a backlog of passports waiting for renewal, thats why mine is taking so long!

AAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Having been to the dc office, all i can say is u all should a make the trip to dc and get it done personally. but be fore warned.. The minute u step into that office you realize that u r in Kenya. The waiting area is dusty, with a tired green couch that looks like it can give u a serious rash. There is a karatasi brand note book that is supposed to be for signing in...who does that other than kenyas. Nobody looks at the book but the first thing they ask is "have u signed book?" There are two torn up pictures on the wall that must be 10-20 years old. Nothing that says welcome to kenya or to entice me to travel to the country.
The jamas who work there are behind a plastic screen that is sooo kenyan. There is a chick who answers phones with an attitude while typing on an old type wrtiter.....no comps yet...but they have a website to boast about....go figure.
The only positive is that if you go speak swa you will have your passport back in less than 4 hours.
