What stupidity is this??

I was reading the standard newspaper on saturday and the story i read there was shocking.
Apparently the Al-shabab in Mogadishu do not allow the women/girls to wear bras.They say that it's against Islam to wear bras and that God did not intend for women to wear bras.
They even have guys walking around to check if women are wearing them.

The militants walking around checking on women with bras are allowed to strip them of the bra,and that's not all the punishment you get,they take you somewhere else to punish you by flogging.They don't care if your walking with your husband,son,brother,father; they will strip you while they watch and burn the bra in full view of everyone.

They don't really care if your walking with your son and you can imagine what will be going through the boys mind to see his mother,sister,wife being stripped on the street.Whether your a breastfeeding mother or the kind of women who have big busts,you will receive the same treatment.
I don't really know what to call this stupidity,barbaric act?I don't know but it just goes to show how women are looked down upon.

Seriously! And their logic and rationale behind all these is that "Islam preaches" and that "God saw it deemed"? Damn these people!

I read the story as well, and thot it was too weird and insensitive. However, I presumed that the "verification" kama matiti ni ya kweli is done in a "kangaroo" court but unfortunately by men! Didn't realise they do it anywhere including in the streets kwa macho ya kila mtu!

That is the world of fundamentalism!

In Kenya, we should always count ourselves lucky (lucky too that Mungiki didn't get to that point of kuvua wanawake trousers na mini-skirts). But it is a reality that in some countries and cultures, the freedom you enjoy as a woman is curtailed. You may want t ocall it stupidity, barbarism or violation of women rights, but to the perperators, it is preservation of culture!

Have you heard of countries or cultures where the first menstruation for a girl is a big party? What would you call that?
