South Africa has the highest rates of murder and rape in the world. That means whatever happened after the elections in 2008 in Kenya happens daily in South Africa. Did we also mention the blackouts? The daylight robberies?

Dunno what South Africans have that they think they can lord it over the rest of the motherland. Ati 'how's Africa?" Nomaswazi, go fix your home first, if you are indeed South African.

I came from some where close to westlands. Been there all my life before flying out to diasporaland. Was fortunate to Grow up in a very nice area with street lights, 4 bedroom bungalows, garage, lenthy driveways,...the kind of place u would find alot of expats. I didnt think we were rich growing up. Ironically, after i left kenya, i came to realise that I probably lived a "blessed" life in comparison to most kenyans and for that, I will always be gratefull and proud of the life my parents created for me. I just wish the same for all Kenyans, because it shouold have been that way after independence, since our economy in 1963 was better than asian countries. (besides japan of course)

@NOMASWAZI
The stats is that every 17 seconds 3 women are violently raped in SA. Go figure!

Please folks, I want to hear countryside tales not I am Nairobian. I was born in Nairobi too but I don't identify myself as Nairobian.
Everyone here and I mean everybody you have your ancestral homestead. So please share your countryside experiences here.
I love countryside! Nairobi holds no interest for me none whatsoever!

Didnt you ask where your from, or where your ancestrol land is or am I missing something here
I thought the post was quite clear. Am not from my shags, because I may have spent a night or two there. I have nothing to be ashamed of, nor do I have any apologies for where I am from
Nairobi isnt called the green city in the sun for nothing, and it has its own beautifull flora and fauna.
The moral of this is ANY time you ask somebody where their from, its basically saying where were you born and bread, PERIOD! Even here in the states, the blacks dont say their from africa, and whites dont say Europe neither. American hispanics definately dont say mexico too.
Weirdo

LOL these are good tales. Ati a monkey comes and walks out with your food. That's funny stuff. I didn't know your place is still forested like that. Our place has been deforested completely due to farming and overpopulation. Thus as much as I would like to write a thing or two about it, there's not much that comes to mind for the natural beauty has long been gone. Even the antelopes our forefathers chased for wild meat exist no more. Yet my grandma used to tell us that in her time, she saw elephants. Now the place is littered with grass thatched houses supported by mudwalls that are often carpeted with egesamwera/ekebuse (clay) mixed with cowdung. It's not uncommon to find the lazy ones whose homes are not plastered and the brown dry mud that was stuck between the poles is almost falling.

And with the increased population, live fences are as numerous. Live fences are preferred because they are flexible. Nyakundi will once in a while push ekenagwa towards Nyabuti's piece of land. If Nyabuti is not keen, the mauritius thorn will grow and crowd an inch or two of his land. Nyakundi will pull the move once more and after some years, Nyabuti will find that his piece of land has narrowed by 5 feet and a war will ensue. Nyakundi knowing that standing down means 5 feet less of land for him will pick a panga and slice Nyabuti. This happens all the time. And you think it's only Kalenjins fighting over a land they willingly sold at throw away prices only to realize they are squatters on their former lands.

Nafusi why are you spoiling the spirit of this good thread by introducing the usual tribal hatred and streotypes which everyone here is trying to avoid.
if someone says WaLuhya wacheni kuwa mafala, kufanya job cheap za maWatchmen and Cooks ama kuRape kuku na kukosa msimamo politically, what would youe feel?
Just say where you come from in western and be proud of it or not be proud of it but dont talk about other tribes you dislike.
In Taita we believe respect is a virtue.

@Jogich and Didier, it's good to know am not the only Muranganian in Mashada!

Alot of people don't know much about Muranga, they assume it some run down densely populated district in Kenya. Far from it! In fact according to history, when missionaries first came to Kenya, they were prevented from settling on the coast by the Portuguese, who had taken the coastal area, strategic for trade, from Arab powers in the 16th century. The missionaries were forced to venture into Kenya's rugged interior, and Muranga was the one of the first place they settled.
When the British set up the East African Protectorate in 1895, their first administrative post, Fort George, was located in Muranga.
One on the main highlights of Muranga's history, however, is that of Mau Mau uprising.

About whores in Muranga Township, I am kind of shocked. The last time I visited the town, it was about 5 years ago on our way to water-rafting fun at Mathioya River. I tell you, the moment we stepped out of the car in Muranga town for a cold drink; it was a picture i would rather forget very quickly - we were completely swamped by bare-feeted kids from all direction all asking (begging) for change. Far worse than Nairobi!
I didn’t even know there were slums in Muranga Township.

As of Muranga chicks, I agree with Didier 110% the best Kikuyu gals there is! And for those who like light-skinned women, that's the place to find them.
