Don't derail this thread is my humble request.

What I mean by the above request is that you should not take a lot of time before posting a response if need be.

Derailment is an act of causing a delay to an event. For example, if people were to set off for a journey, some woman (always) may be taking too long to get ready. Such women always delay (derail) the commencement of the journey.

In a discussion, the person who derails is the one who takes a lot of time before contributing when/if required. Such discussions may end up taking a longer time to conclude.

In discussion forums like this, the word "derail" has been misused when it is being applied to the act of drifting to another topic or introducing non-issue comments.

I rarely (never) consider those who introduce non-intended topics into threads as thread derailers, but I consider them as geniuses capable of shifting from one topic to the other as illustrated below:

Starting the discussion from weather, to God (religion), to women, to chics, to politics, to sports, then finally, after six hours of talking and talking, you conclude by saying, "hey I gotta go, I'll keep in touch. I enjoyed every minute of the time we've had.".

Pleases, don't derail this thread.

grip_daddy, let's see:

Meaning of DERAIL: Obstruct a process by diverting it from it's intended course.

It is impossible to derail a thread about derailment. It's like trying to make water wet.

I think there is way water can be wet. I'm not sure if I was taught that in Food Chemistry, let me check my notes.

A confusing definition:

A derailment is an accident on a railway in which a train leaves the rails, which can result in damage, injury, and death. From Wikipedia.

My memory was not that bad. Check this link for some practical applications of the "wet water" concept...Wet Water.

A quote from the site has this:

By using an additive that breaks the surface tension, you can make the water "wetter", allowing it to spread and flow easier.

I think they're just making water wetter, not wet. All they're doing is reducing the natural cohesiveness of water. "By using an additive that breaks the surface tension, you can make the water "wetter", allowing it to spread and flow easier."

It isn't water anymore when you put an additive in, anyway. So "wet water" is like calling orange juice = water.

You see, it took you sometime to get back to me...(I was around waiting for some response from at least someone), and that derailed the thread.

Actually, water can be made wet in the technical definition of it...but this time (speaking for derailment) by creating (not breaking) some tension.

I was out for lunch. A fly landed in my food. I tried to leave without paying, blaming the establishment for failing to keep the place clean.

If water can be wettened, it follows that it can be dried. Martini dry? Dry wine? How about some dry water?
