Genevieve- That was a good book filled with one surprise after another.

I love all Eric Jerome D.ickey's books. But my all-time favorite was "CHEATERS"... Oooh I remember I almost got fired from my job coz I just couldn't put that book down. I've read all his books except Chasing Destiny.

I've read this book but couldn't shake the feeling that some details had been left out or glossed over. Not sure if i'll read Beyond Ugly

The Concubine - I read this book 3 more times after I left high school and on each occasion, it felt like I was reading it for the first time.

I'll Marry When I Want by Ngugi wa Thiong'o - another very interesting read. I'm not from central but I found myself reading the Kikuyu version and I must say it was really intruiging.

The Trials of Brother Jero (Masaibu ya Ndugu Jero) - a very hiularious short book. I found myself reading it over and over again too.

Simu ya Kifo - can't remember the author but its a very interesting read too.

Mwana wa Giningi - can't remember the author but a good book too.

Utubora Mkulima by Ken Walibora - his writing style is very catchy and in a class of its own.

People say that reading Kiswahili is a challenge....well, it is difficult but not impossible. Once you read just one book, the next one will be a piece of cake.

Default which book.............. - 09-17-2007, 03:08 AM

I am currently reading Nervous Conditions by TsiTsi Dangarembga. This lady talks about growing up in the village. I could totally identify with most of her experiences, especially the part where they are eating lots of those rare foodstuffs over christmas, having an uncle who is a teacher and lives in a nice house on the school compound... snobbish cousins etc etc. While reading the book I was actually transposed to the village some several decades ago. Very interesting!

I have two other books for you.

1. "Tryin' to sleep in the bed you made" by Virginia DeBerry and Donna Grant
2. "Soulmates Dissipate" by Mary Morrison

By the way, there's this website called half.com where you can buy books for dirt cheap.

I luv books
