Default Classic Black literature - 02-07-2006, 07:01 AM

I have recently read classic books by black writers in the west. I have always been fascinated by the black experience in western countries.
Ralph Ellison- Invisible man;
Sam selvon- the lonely londoners;
Richard Wright- native son;
James Baldwin- another country.

I'm also reading new literature by Andrea levy- Small island;
Zadie Smith- white teeth and Caryl Phillips dancer in the dark.

Any recommendations?

Usually buy them. You can get discounts from major bookstores(if you are outside Kenya) or from Amazon.
Your local library might have them, might be a good idea to join.

Wow, i had no idea this book section was at all active.
I'm more into movies than books, but aparently no-one goes to the movie thread, so i stopped posting.

After readnig this post, I noticed something that made me feel a little embarassed: I've read from very few black authors, African or otherwise.

Now because of this post i wont have to look too far to find some good ones.
I'm trusting your judgement here, Timmys, hope you don't disappoint my wallet...or me.
