Yes, one of the genres that I truly love.
The lady at the bookshop paid me a massive compliment when she explained that most people do not have the capacity to absorb these kind of books, including her.

Or perhaps it was a subtle insult?

Anyway, I only recently discovered this writer and can see why he has established himself as a force to reckon with in Fantasy-Fiction.

His heroes are very realistic and the worlds he creates around them are authentic.

So far I've read 'The Legend of Deathwalker', 'Hero in the Shadows' and I am just about to finish 'White Wolf'.

They are the kinds of books that transport you entirely if you let them, into a realm where evil and good are in constant strife, sometimes inside the main characters themselves.

If you're a fan of 'Conan', or like the writing of Stephen R. Donaldson (famous for 'The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant') or J.R.R. Tolkien ('The Lord of the Rings'), then books by David Gemmell come highly recommended.

Ah yes, just remembered another parallel, 'The Ring of Five Dragons' by Eric van Lustbader.

I could harp on but I've made my point. If you see the name David Gemmell in the bookstore, pick one up, you won't be disappointed.

One of his test readers has a site up, check it out:
