Interesting thoughts, thierry and mimie. I read an article about Ngugi and his reasons for publishing in Kikuyu. His objection to writing in English is based on his opinion that it is the language of oppressor.
In his view, the British and previous administrations(Kenyatta and Moi) suppressed any political thought, cultural advancement that might emanate from being able to reach a wide audience using your mother tongue.
