Ceeworm, I must admit you have a way of making a book great! By the River of Piedra certainly sounds like a great read. I like the way you speak about it in such a personal way. You def. connected with it. Its on my look-for list!

Read "Piedra" a while back, but yeah it was a deep book. Can't say I really got it all then (was young and shallow) but the concept of a love like that got me. Gotta read it again.

You should move on to Veronika decides to die if you haven't read it already.

Man, Coelho is a genius. The way he weaves this simple stories that are really about the most profound things in life....

Read "Veronika Decides To Die".It's a nice book but it didn't really get to me like "By The River Piedra I Sat Down And Wept". I guess i just didn't relate to Veronika, who's roughly my age but decides that she's had enough of life. She wants to commit suicide, but coming from the where I've come from, and all the stuff I've been through i didn't think she had a REALLY good reason to commit suicide. She was just tired of life. That's NOT reason enuff, in my opinion :-)

I got to relate to a book to really get into it. By the way, I'm a certified Coelho addict by now. SInce the last time i posted I've managed to read six more of his works. Most of them nice, but others i think I'll have to re-read them at a time when I can actually relate.

"By The River Piedra I Sat Down And Wept" really struck a chord with me coz well, i just related to it.

Thanks Pix9 for the compliment.

I'm reading 'Going Solo' by Roald Dahl. The book revolves around the adventures of Roald Dahl in his mid-twenties covering his stint in TZ for Shell company and Kenya, Sudan, Egypt and Iraq for WW2.

It's a must read.

Haven't read "The Pilgrimage" yet Thierry. It's not on my list of "Got to read" either. Don't know, it just doesn't appeal. That and his Other work "Manual of The Warrior of Light". I'm planning to start on "The Fifth Mountain" soon, but i don't know, I'm not as excited about that one as i was about his other works.

About "By the river piedra...", well what can we say. Go read it! I'm a bit worried that you might have very high expectations of it and then get dissapointed. It's a simple but oooh-so-profound book..
