I know in a few weeks i will be able to give constructive criticism towards this book, but for now, all i will say is ....why do aging junguz go to Massai land to become elders? what is this obsession with masoos anyway? touristic angle kando, i would be quite offended if some people with no inkling whatsoever about my life decided they wanted to take a piece of my culture and just play with it, which is how i see it.
I was reading Bridget Jones The edge of reason, the other day. so her mother is excited because she is travelling to Kenya, for her (she's British of course) the epitome of living. she comes back with this kiuk jamaa whose pretty intelligent (i mean the dialogue was- unless of course the writer didnt know better) who is apparently learned in the ways of old kiuk ways. me, i was jazzed by the way the buzz word in that book was 'hakuna matata' said whenever someone felt inclined to. toursistic mumbo jumbo kill me inside all the time, because it always ends up reducing someone or sth to monetory value, in which case then what is the real/ true purpose of exploring the native???????
