i got this recommendation for a book by Jeffrey Eugenides called "Middlesex". This is the same guy who wrote "The Virgin Suicides" which was adapted into a movie by Sophia Coppola....

I am still in the beginning chapters but already I think its brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Someone pick it up and we can discuss it once we're done?

i have been reading good book after good book the last couple of weeks.
here is another one that i want to recommend - highly highly highly.
its by Sarah Waters of "Tipping the Velvet" fame which was a mini series in BBC1 for those in the UK.
Its called Fingersmith and this book has it all - romance, lesbian action, suspense, history, sadness - everything.
a really really good book.

I read Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier and found it intriguing. There's a movie out on DVD now but I haven't seen it.

I have read many books but my most recent have been excellent. It's a ladies detective series set in Botswana by Alexander McCall Smith. ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS! You can find them at Amazon.
