I keep hearing that the problem with Kenyans is that they just don't read. I beg to differ. Go to any news stand and see the myraid of people fingering through a newspaper that they won't buy coz they can't afford to buy it, to get the news. Is the newspaper not classy enough to be considered a 'read'? Then there are the countless number of students who are always cramming one thing or the other and those over-hyped on self help books that are all the rage.

Where I think the statement may be true is when it comes to reading for leisure. I think there's plenty room for improvement there ...

Kenyans are amongst the highly read societies, it just a question of what they read
