I think you are right i see you like (some kind of fish or octopus) therefore i wont be able to answer you. The person here is either slippery or is not 'straight' if you will therefore you are avoiding any answer to the person even if you could have one. But ya it may refer to some context as well.
In TZ talking of a leso is to referring to a hand-kerchief i dont know the spelling. Kitenge is the dress won either by men or women but the clothe women tie around their waist called leso in kenya is called kanga in TZ. So watch your language.

Thanks for your input! I'm not sure i understand what you think my kitenge may mean....but thanks. It is from Tanzania and has a pattern with a saying, which has two pieces of fabric to wear one as a skirt and one as a shirt or covering. I'll be so sad to hear it is a bad saying...it is so pretty, I assumed it would only be good! I couldn't get it translated where i was buying it as the store person didn't know English very well and Nasema kiingereza, sisemi kiswhali, only kidogo. So there you have it....too bad! ASANTE!

I know! Sisemi kiswhalili...nasema kiingereza. Nasema kiswhalili kidogo. kidogo sana. The store clerk didn't know English that well (or figured i wouldn't buy it if i knew what it meant...) so couldn't/wouldn't tell me. I did try to ask. It was just so pretty....oh well. thanks for your help......!

My swahili is very poor...was the recipe for mandazi given? I noticed the word for flour, liquid and gathered that maybe someone is sending mandazi via Fed Ex...how close am i? and i'd also love to have the recipe for tea time! I'll make them from scratch!

I guess i'm wrong then...it seemed that deepstyck was possibly writing about the recipe for mandazi and had written "FedEx" in one of his responses to you...I tried to translate, but don't have a swahili/english dictionary (if he was even writing in swahili) so i tried my best with what i have. :-) isn't "vumbi" dust?

oh, am really sorry. i couldn't get it coz i didn't reread the other posts so what u were saying sounded a little bit alien to me.

anyway, that was just the basics of cooking maandazi. fedex is a type of flour (i suppose, not so sure about that)
