there was someone who posted something about hating on white folk especially those with blue eyes...and i replied with some black people i know also have colored eyes so would he hate them too?.

Now last night i was wacthing law and order and they had a case of this black guy who faked to be a white jamaa cos he looked like one...he had the hair skin eyes blah blah....but his maternal parents were pure negroes.

Anyway it got me thinkin..how possible is it to have a real life case where a pure black dude from pure black parents would end up lookin like a caucasian without an away match taking place. And if it did happen, what would be the cause of it? Now mind u im not talking about a guy who almost turned out to be an albinoe...im talkin about lookin like a white jamaa

My biology people can u help me understand this one like u did with the melanin issue?

We are described as we look ie phenotype such that if that guy looked white then he is white regardless of having two black perents. It could be a case of genes linkage or dominance. If both his parents had recessive genes for the caucasian race then their possibility of having black kids would be 75% and thier possibility of getting a white kid is 25%. Now this might be wrong but is the only thing that I can thing of right now.:7

Stupak is that for real?....u are described according to ur looks and not ur background? i dont think so....if u looked white and had black parents then i dont think the white folk would ever accept u as one of them.....i dont think if a black looking guy had pure white parents that i would accept him for being black..not in a bad way but looks dont make a person. but thats my theory

That's true but before you get to know a person's background you can only describe them as they look. Is Tiger Woods black? Is Mariah Carey white? Is Venessa Williams black?

from their looks i would call them all black..they might have some white features in them but their black features dominate over their white...so i geuss i do get ur point now...we judge by looks then by ancestry

The other day I was watching the Discovery Health channel and they were talking about "Giants and Dwarfs" and they featured a dwarf family, a famous guy called Ricardo who is a dwarf married to a dwarf and guess what, their child was normal!

both parents must have worked in a highly x-rayed company causing mutation of their reproductive cells. Either that or they both walked through an area of highly ionized or charged particles that caused re-orientation of their genetic makeup.

Stupak answered "How possible" it was by telling you that there is a 25% chance of a Black couple, heterozygous for the "race gene" to have a white kid.

Hence if the Gene for "blackness" was B and the gene for whiteness was
"w"

Then BBww would stand for a -half-caste with the black genes being dominant phenotypically.i.e. The black genes assert themselves more physically such that a bi-racial person is easy to spot because of either colour or hair.NB- If it was half-Asian then the phenotype most expressive would be facial structure and eye shape.

As stupak said and as you can see from above, there is a 25% chance that the first generation offspring will be "white"

But the above is a simplistic representation since the genes for hair and skin may not be co-inherited. Also some features carried in the fathers Y-chromosome are never passed on to the daughter since she only gets his X-chromosome. Similarly, all features carried in the mothers X-Chromosome are always going to assert themselves in the son since his X-Chromosome comes only from her. THe father can never pass genes in his X-chromosome to the son. The daughter however can exhibit varying traits since she gets two X-chromosomes one from the father and one from the mother.

THere is something called co-dominance where either trait has a 50% chance of showing up in any offspring and there is also the crossing over in mieosis that allows the exchange of genetic makeup but that is all vague right now thouhg I'm sure it plays a part.

Merc you don't have to have had serious flows of radiation to produce offspring that completely different from you. I agree with the first post but I would like to add genotypes into the equation. There are many ways that the gametes (sperm or eggs) can have randomly selected genes. Probably the "white" guy with the black parents had recessive genes for example brown eye colour is dominant to any other colour. So his eyes must have been a result of two recessive genes one from the mother and one from the father coming together. It is sort of like being an albino but not necessarily. There are 8 genes controlling eyes colour and I don't know how many more controlling skin colour but if you think about it it can't only be melanin controlling genes coz there are different types of white people MAN there are different type of ppl period! eg. latina, asian, black, white and then divisions in each. But anyway back to my point I think it is a very viable conclusion that a white kid can come from two negro parents only in that they must have white blood in them as in they must both have the genes to produce such a child. Anyway just imagine what the father must have thought when he saw the kid " This woman has been cheating" hhehehehe DRAMA! its so SCANDALOUS!
