Hi everbody!

ummm i've heard that in Japan there are three names for a dog? i guess depending on how you perceive the owner?

If you respect the owner than you respect his dog. But the thing that i think is really cool?
The wifey pays the geisha

I guess most of these people posting their ignorance in here would fume if they herad Japanese people in Japan ask..."I hear in Kenya you guys live on trees!"

I hear you guys sleep with monkeys , or I hear you run ten miles to school and hunt antellopes for your supper on your way home from school.

GUYS STYLE UP and stop trying to put down our fellow Kenyans in the Land Of the Rising Sun.

Why don't you tell Dallas B exactly what ot is you're doing with yaselves wherever U R.

Dallas peace.

BAKA YARO konno naka ippai yo!

Dallas B, I think what most people are trying to say is if you could please fill-us in on the lifestyle dont' take too personal. Like the basics of living in Japan. What sports do they have, what are their hobbies, are the men really that hardworking? What do they do for fun? I guess a lot of people just don't know what it's like in Japan, please enlighten us..

I have worked for a Japanese multi national that had a liaison office in Nairobi for its East & southern operations. Working for the Japs was a very interesting part of my life to which I am thankful for (especially when compared to working in the US!).

Anyway, the long and short of it is that once you fully understand the Japanese culture (and language which I hardly ever practiced) you understand their mindset. Don't forget that Japan was closed to the outside world for over 200 years, making them a very insular society. We think that the Japs (by the way never refer to them as "Japs" in their presence) are racist to blacks in general. This is false...the Japanese perceive all non-Japanese as "Gaijin" which literally means outsider. It doesn't matter if you are white, black, gray, yellow......you are a non-Japanese and therefore will not understand/appreciate their customs.

What I loved most was the Japanese work ethic and teamwork. There is no teamwork here in the US!!! I hate the way they misuse that word here! They need to learn about teamwork and consensus building from the Japanese. Everything and I mean Everything was all about consensus building/team work and, most importantly, "saving face". The initial training was an intense 2 years on Japanese culture, language, business practices, social practices, marketing strategies…..the list is endless! I traveled immensely around the Africa and the world, using up 4 Jumbo Kenyan passports in less than 5 years. The experience and knowledge that I gained from the Japanese is one I know the Americans are not capable of offering Africans. If you do ever get the chance to work for a Japanese company, keep in mind just 3 things and you work experience will be enriched;

1. Be patient
2. Be very patient!
3. Learn the the language and culture
