Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.

>Without a college education you could
>start and run your own business as many
>have done.
>
>College education is over-rated. Without
>talent, hard work, skill, and a strong
>desire to succeed a college degree will
>take you nowhere.

I second that emotion Mwananchi. I'm surprised that someone had to ask this question. I hope he finds out someday that there IS much more to life.

College education is not the be all and end all of life.

There are practical things you can resort to with hard work, patience and the support of others around you.

Just an example, I'd consider rubbish collection.

Even with minimal funds...take the mountain right to Mohammed's doorstep. Start small with simple rubbish collection for a fee. Think bigger and start supplying bin liners and bins to your clients for another small fee. Hey who knows, maybe one day you can rent a pick-up to help you out....Think bigger and start supplying bins for a small fee....Rent a second pickup. Collect more rubbish from more people.

There's nothing people love more than reliability (well apart from sex and money)...and as long as your more consistent than the City Council charged with this job...you've got game....With hard work, a rubbish collection dynasty shouldn't be just a dream.

Example 2.

Work hard to buy a blak mamba with a passenger seat behind.

Offer to carry people from the market to their home in shags.....There's a hell of a lot of people tired of walking that distance in the sweltering heat of the Kenyan countryside. Charge a minimal fee for your services.

Work hard to buy another bike and rent it out to someone in your predicament...Charge them a rental fee per day while you still do your taxi thing with the bike.

Save up and buy a third bike and rent it to another person who needs a few bob. Expand your catchment area...

Buy another bike and follow the drill...With patience and hard work...open up a shop that deals in renting bikes to up coming bike taxi drivers in shags. With hard work and determination, a bike taxi dynasty doesn't have to be a dream anymore.

Hell! Go into public relations...Talk to a local AIDS charity to give you a small fee for you and your bike drivers to wear an AIDS awareness T-shirt....The dude or lady you're carrying will have to read and they'll eventually tell someone that there's this thing called a condom.

With hard work and determination you may be able to use your resources and bike collection to rent a small car for the same service....Expand your horizons.

With hard work and determination, you can still make it in life. It's not gonna be easy but I'll sure try it if it was the only option.

Indeed College Education is very important in one's quest for a bright future. College provides you with a shortcut to the good things in life. I am not trying to imply that without college one cant make it. We have all seen a good number of millionaires without any college education. Basically if you have the opportunity to get a college degree, go for it. Otherwise there are more ways than one to make it in this life. If you are in the states for example...you can take up two jobs and save up your money for investment back home. I have seen a number of people do wonders this way. There are a number of kenyans working regular jobs here but have a couple of million shillings in the banks back home or invested somewhere. You must remember that the money you make here will not do as much here as it can back home. Lastly.....the most important thing to do is to make a target and a timeframe within which you would like to meet you goal......from then on, you are on your own. As for me I am taking both routes, College and Homeland Investment...it is possible and so far I am happy with my achievements.
