Hi!It will depend how skilled you are.If you are a IT-genius,they will roll a red carpet for you at the airport, computer-specialists are desperatly needed in the EU (like everywhere else I guess).
If you just have a good will and a brave heart to offer it will be very difficult to migrate to Europe. There is (like in the US) only a certain amount of people from outside the EU who get a permission for permanent stay (which includes of course the permission for work),and most of these are family members of people who already live there.
So check out if you have an uncle,sister,...here in Europe,if not try to look for any job you can get BEFORE you apply for a working visa (with the confirmation of the company which offers you a job)in the (e.g.)Swedish embassy in Nairobi,(Mombasa,...)
Still I can hardly see a chance,it is not easy to enter the EU.The most effective way would be to marry an European, that gives you a permission of stay IMMEDIATELY(in all 15 countries of the EU).Good luck *g*
Another possible way is to apply for political asylum."Unluckily" Kenya is considered to be a safe country,so if you do not have a Nigerian or Somali passport your chances will be at cero.
I wish you good luck, although it seems that you do not have the foggiest notion how ****ING FREEZING it is in northern Europe in winter!

I wouldn't personally recommend any of those countries, especially not Finland. My company sent me on a training course to Helsinki for 5 days and i must say I found the people to be the most ignorant unapproachable europeans I've ever met.
Sweden aint too bad, but I haven't been to Norway or Denmark so I can't really comment much on any of them, however, you'll find a major language barrier in most Scandinavian countries. you'll also find that they don't really like foreigners.

Do you expect them to be falling over themselves to welcome you? I live in the southeast US and people around here are quite friendly even though KKK was based around here.

Morio,
Living in Scandinavia is just about as good as it gets. Let me talk of Sweden. Utterly beautiful, peaceful.. and not much to be stressed about. Getting here though is a different story. I hardly recommend asylum, cos you wont get it, unless of course you seriously lie through your teeth, and pray to god that you remember all those damn lies! The Swedes have a habit of checking on you about these things.. picky lot they are!! Getting a job from outside is defiantly not easy, unless the good lord personally steps in, computer literate or not. In the past year major companies have taken their business into cheaper areas like the South East Asia, and therefore many people have lost their jobs, and I am talking Ericsson and Volvo, just to name a few. One thing you should know is Scandinavia is a large area populated by very few people. e.g. Sweden= 9 million, Norway 3 million or something like that and Denmark the same. Finland my dear is NOT considered part of Scandinavia.. So I will not venture into areas i dont know. As for the job market, there are a lot of highly skilled people, working in areas that dont maximise their qualifications. But if you are in the medical profession.. then you have it made. Doctors and nurses are needed kwa mingi. Therefore morio if you want to come over and join us where it is utterly miserable in the winter, and breathtakingly beautiful in the summer, when the sun doesnt set for some of us, and one is capable of slowly going mad.. I suggest you had better be ready to learn the language and that means pretty fast. In Scandinavia you will NOT survive if you cant speak the language. But do note.. if you can speak Swedish, then you can speak Norwegian and Danish, its just the accent that differs. Although Danish takes some getting used to!! As for Finnish, oy!! Thats a hard thing to master
too complex and strange.. But if you can learn Russian, then I guess Finnish would be easy.
As for getting here, as someone suggested, unless you marry into the country or you have family here, Its next to impossible. The Scandinavians like keeping their countries the way they are.. Under populated!! And as for racism, I personally have NEVER encountered it. There are *******s everywhere in the world. And I believe, you teach people how to treat you. So I cannot comment on that.
One last word
Do not forget we pay the highest tax in the world!!

Moria...Norway, life is quite hard the first few days. No friends and the people are cold. then you have to learn Norwegian, quite an easy language, but let me just tell you you'll never get it right for at least the first one year. Alafu the winter is COLD....winter depression is a common ailment, even I suffer from it from time to time. Halafu if you don't have relatives or don't get married pronto, be prepared for a loooong ait with the immigration department(I've never seen racists so intense). However what I love is the freedom this sides. You can be a hooker and no one judges you vibaya. Plus no one really cares what you're up to...unless its a crime. The jobos, if you don't own a damn good degree you'll have to start from square one. And even if you do be perepared to have at least one year of language school before you can get to just one job interview. Despite all this Norway is the most beautiful Scandinavian country in the summer! LOL

working in europe (not UK) as a professional is not easy.
you have to consider the following;
-high cost of living, low quality of life
-language barrier, especially in meetings or official docs.
my ex-colleague got what he thought was a good offer and moved to europe. 4 months later, he was begging for his old job.
dont be discouraged. but be prepared. i suggest you go visit before making a move.
