I think first and foremost teachers in Kenya especially in the rural areas are on a pedestal. That also makes a teacher eligible among the "students". Some parents look the other way hoping maybe the daughter will end up getting married to teh teacher.

I actually know like 4 men who married their high school students, and it is not frowned upon.

I think Kenyan has not done enough to protect the girl child. Recently a motion has been introduced to ensure that any teacher complicit with having sex with a student will immidietly loose their teachers licence.

that is a good direction we are heading, esp because the media is also really now telling as it is
