Not all of them were Catholic. Infact, the Bishop of Rome was probably the only "Roman Catholic" involved. Besides, if they tried to put forward the celibacy issue they didn't do a good job because there's bible verses that support clerical marriage.

Ndigila, It does not matter who the pope was, in this era, the papacy was a political seat and not a religious one, actually it was almost hereditary like the ordinary kingdom crowns, run by Italian families, popes were deposed and others were proclaimed, there is nothing holy about the 'Holy Catholic church' nothing at all, and there is nothing holy or true about the edited "old testament" nothing at all
A simple google search will open your eyes to the true nature of the papacy, and the absurd intrigues, then maybe you can start appreciating why the old testament will forever remain a controversy
